Phil G
Having just completed the 1 star kayak course I’m keen to get some river/lake experience but don’t want to invest in new kit just yet. On the look out for a second hand model. Possibly a Dagger, Perception or Pyranha, ideally with paddles and spray deck. ----- Phil
prangerman
Phil I have asked a canoeing/kayaking friend to ask in his circle. In the meantime he suggests trying kentcanoes.co.uk who sometimes have offers on, and do preowned stuff too apparently. Phil G
Thanks for the advice chaps. No members with the odd kayak gathering dust in the garage then? ☹️ Phil
Laurence Wilson
So where did you go to do your course, Phil? I've been thinking about joining a club or similar for a while. I did a little kayaking while I was at school but nothing serious. Laurence
Phil G
Hi Laurence, Southwater Watersports centre at the Southwater Leisure Centre. BCU 1* course £79.00 ----- Phil Why does it always rain on me even when the sun is shining?
Phil G
About time you got that 7 back on the road. 😬 😬 😬 Phil Why does it always rain on me even when the sun is shining?
Laurence Wilson
It is 😬 and has been back to the Gribble and Goodwood but I've missed on the last couple area meets. Been somewhat wary of the prospect of rain I take it Southwater is geared towards tuition? Are you a member of any of the local kayaking clubs? I noticed there's an Arun Canoe club but haven't found much information online. Laurence
Phil G
I must have missed you at the Gribble. I have been a coupel of times this year due to holiday, illness, rain etc. Southwater do have a club network but I am not a member of that or any other as yet. I want to get some equipment first and have a paddle up the rivers, hence this thread.
Laurence Wilson
Well, I've been in touch with Southwater and am tempted to go for the course on the 19th of next month - there's one this weekend but I've got OU coursework due next week Before I go ahead, would you recommend them? And have another BTTT on me Laurence
Phil G
Absolutely – Course is demanding but tutor has a relaxed manner. Be prepared to roll kayak and escape and get very wet!
Laurence Wilson
I still dislike rolling kayaks as much as I did when I was a kid but it didn't stop me completing the 1 star today 😬 Excellent tutor Have another BTTT Laurence
Phil G
I’m pleased you went for the course. Keep me posted on your progress. I am ashamed to say I have not made any myself since completing the course. I blame work, but that’s just an excuse for being a lazy 🙆🏻.
