Number Plate numbers?

Recommended Posts

In the May '07 Lowflying, on page 27 in the bottom center photos of Series 2 Lotuses, there are two photos of a yellow nosecone with separate, detachable shiny metal numbers affixed to the grille as the car's number plate.

Does anyone have a current source for these separate numbers?

Thanks.

Tom,

As you possibly know, British number plates used to be made using separate rivetted digits, and it was quite common for sports car owners to mount these direct on the grille rather than on a plate (eg Lotus Elan).

There is a firm called Framptons who advertise in the classic car mags who make all the various types of plates used over the years, including this type. They may well sell the digits separately. See here for details.
