Cadwell Park - FIA roll bar

I am concerned that I have only the 'standard' roll bar which came with the car when it was built in '94. Can someone confirm that this will be sufficient, or do I need to shell out for a new roll bar? Currently, concerned at time, given the day is a week on Monday!

Thanks.

Bad news I'm afraid - you do need an FIA bar or cage for 7 club trackdays.

Check with Geoff, but I don't think there are excpetions to this rule.

I would think CC have them in stock, and they or one of the specialists

could get it fitted if you don't fancy it yourself.

Might be worth asking in "Wanted" too, as a few people change to cages.

[FIA bars have one (old) or two (new) diagonal cross braces if you are not sure

which you have, and are thicker]

Either the Arch 'FIA' or the Caged 'Trackday' rollover bars are required as an absolute minimum, with no exception, for all 7 club uk based trackdays.

Fingers crossed Caterham are getting some in on Tuesday! I then just need to get my mechanic to fit, as I understand on a de-dion, you have to drop the rear suspension......not the sort of thing I should probably do ahead of taking it round Cadwell.

Does anyone know anywhere else which may stock them, just incase CC don't get them in.

Thanks.

Caterham are probably the only place to get a new one. You could try any of the race team - Hyperion, Team Parker etc to see if they have any 2nd hand.

The rear suspension drop is straight forward. Just jack the car and then support on axle stands. Then use the jack to support the DD tude (in the dropped position.

Undo the two big (usually imperial) hex bolts from the passenger compartment and lower the tube a little more.

The two bolts fit into the bottom of the bar. They are notoriously fiddly as they are a 'short head' so a good flat socket is usually required to get them done up.

Then refit the dampers and away you go... *smile*
