Ferrino
AIUI, lacking a reverse gear (as in a lot of BECs) puts you automatically in Class 6. I am not contemplating competition, but was just curious as to the reason for this, as I had previously seen a lot of other Series demand a reverse mechanism too. It's clearly not required for road-legality in the UK so it's not that. I'm sure the answer is simple! Is it just that organisers deem ability to reverse a trait of a roadgoing car? david nelson
Tony I beleave you need a reverse gear to entre roadgoing classes not just in our club champoinship. David
Ferrino
Hi David! Sure, as I said, I've seen lots of other Series require a reverse - but why? Yamaham @ Keevil
peterg
AFAIK it's to help retrieve cars that end up in the gravel or spin off the track, if they have reverse there's a better chance they can extricate themselves and the event can continue without much delay. As most cars in the 'racing car classes' ie. single seaters etc don't normally have a reverse fitted they have an exemption to this. It may not be forever though as it is now a requirement in most racing events but hillclimb events still specifically allow cars without reverse in the racing car classes.
