click here: google docs for a range of 160 pictures (kindly sent to me by Martin B2).

This might be a useful resource for new 160 builders.

Any update on your delivery, Mike? I checked yesterday, and it's still on for March. I'd originally been told 'early March'.

Hi Ned, It looks like mine is still due around the 2 week of Feb,..ish so not long to go now *smile* I can feel a trip to machine mart is needed soon to get the essentials before it arrives.

I notice that the pictures of the car tax badge show £145. I thought it was going to be £30. Anyone know?

orange is definately a good colour... *driving*

I'm expecting mine in the next 2 weeks, apparently it is in production started on the 5th of Jan and then take 4-5 weeks to be delivered but I'm wondering how much of the kit will arrive and how many parts will be missing.  I does make me wonder about their Supply Chain management but also this will be nearly 8 months in total and up to 3 different delivery dates with the original estimate being November last year!

Regards

Martin

PS glad to you all like the photos!

Hi Martin - missing bits do seem to be a problem. Although told at delivery that only the cat and wheels were missing I since found that I was also missing a Gearbox Extension, Lower Steering column, first fill oils, + some minor bits. And today I couldn't find the Purge Hose - so I don't think I'm finished yet. Check the 'Late Pick Box' on delivery!

On the other hand, if they have it in stock they are very quick to get it to you - but I think we are expected to sort out their 'poor picking' practices.

It is interesting to look at the headlamp wiring too... I notice that in both orange and blue cars they get the indicator cables in the sheath (by making a hole) and the bracket has a grommet where the wires go in.

I don't fancy taking them off again...

As the car in the UK is IVA I think it defaults to the under 1549cc tax rate. The only cars to use the CO2 figures are the factory built EU cars.

I think there is a dodge for when you fill in the IVA forms if you know all the type approval values for CO2, fuel economy etc for a car that is type approved in Europe. That way you may get the £30 tax but I very much doubt if you get Dartford to IVA the car they will do it. Possibly can get it if you self IVA but you then need official data from the manufacturer which they probably wont give you..... *argue*

I noticed the grommet but I don't se how they could have got it and the sheath in there, so I'm not touching mine again.

I'm thinking, once I've covered the cables under the indicator in heat shrink tape (after fitting the econoseal plugs and tidying up inside) they won't be able see the indicator wire anyway.

Thanks, I was thinking of trying to get the IVA done myself in Taunton. It might be cheaper for me to try, and retry, for an IVA than get the car trailered up to Dartford for a post build check. I'm not fully decided yet though. I'll investigate what you suggest.

Having had a look at the forms it may not be possible with an amateur built vehicle. Worth an ask though to possibly save some cash.

Yes, my thoughts too... Let's hope we are right.

Edit - I checked the build manual; and I have followed the instructions.

I tried everything to get the £30 Road Tax, even contacting the Minister "responsible" but the DVLA are adamant that even if the manufacturer builds the car and provides all the emission test figures, it is still a kit car and the Tax is £145.
