  1. I can also testify to the professional work carried out by Vibration Free. Good company to deal with.  However I find most of the vibration on the sevens I have owned comes from the exhaust can and the poor way that it is isolated at the cockpit end.

  2. OM,  I  was advised  that the EES3-1A32-12B speedo cannot be calibrated to work with the toothed wheel by Claerbont and that I need the next generation speedo that was fully programmable.

  3. I have looked at the wiring diagram for my car EU2 /2001 onwards and am still confused how to connect the ford sensor.  We have established that the for sensor has 3 wires Yellow/brown-pickup,  Brown -VE and Brown/black +VE .  The Caterham diagram does not indicate what the two wires are Red/blue and Light green, it just shows them going into a block drawn in the speedo.    I presume that the brown could be grounded as its -VE and if the circuit is energized there should be a +VE and that should be the Brown/Black leaving the brown yellow to be connected to the light green.  Can anyone please confirm this?  Thanks Rob

  4. Thanks for that Jonathan,    Do you know if the sensor works satisfactorily  when correctly connected ?  My current Caterham sensor is dead and I have had loads of these fail over the past 20 years and as such would like to try a replacement.  The ford sensor gives 8 pulses per revolution so should in theory work. I bought one some years ago but never got around to trying it and then sold the car, now I find myself in the same predicament.

  5. Anyone had any experience of substituting the caterham/claerbont speedo sensor that runs from the 6 speed gearbox with the Ford type that Burtons sell and is also available on that popular auction site? The caterham sensor uses a two wire connection red and green wires and the Ford has three wire black brown and yellow, how did you connect it?  I am aware that the brass top hat fixing needs to be changed to one with a smaller thread.  Thanks Rob

  6. Hi David, its been a long time since Le Sept.

I ran my car with a SLR DD cage and a windscreen.  The screen fits within the cage uprights no problem and you can fabricate some brackets to hold the doors onto the front uprights. I am sure that a half hood could be made to suit if the off the peg ones do not fit OXTED will be helpful.  There is a small gap between the screen and the uprights  if this bothers you some black foam tape could be used to fill the gap.  The cage that you have is still the best option.

    regards Rob

  7. I have been towing my 7 for 20 years without any tyre problems until last year when I stated getting tyres failing as per your picture.  I have come to the conclusion that there are some sub standard tyres around now.  Mine were all made in China IIRC powerstar.   Even when correctly inflated or even over inflated they overheated at 60mph and delaminated.  Fit some quality tyres and I would go for 6 ply if possible and correctly inflate them and keep the speed down to 60 .

  8. I have been adding 200/1 low ash mineral oil 2 Stroke to all my Diesel cars for over 20 years.   The engines run cleaner, more mpg and smoother.  Loads of research done by Mercedes and Rover if you search the Web.  I use standard Sainsburys fuel and Comma Low ash Mineral 2 stroke 300ml to a tank in my BMW 330D,
