  1. Joe:

Now there's a can of worms!

Since I'm guessing you got your through official channels,

It will be titled as a kit car.

You just go to the Secretary of State, and ask for the forms.

You will have to pay tax on it based on the cost of the kit. Save your recipts.

Then you will get a temp tag to drive it to the inspection.

Insurance may be a challenge. I use Hagerty out of Traverse City. Since your car is new they may insure it as an "exotic". Far cheaper than my regular provider.

If you wish to chat it up on the subject you can email or call me.

    Cheers!

  2. Good Lord!

A Seven in Davidson! What is the world coming to.

If you do pick up the Harbor Freight tender use with caution. Like everything they sell, quality contol is questionable.

I live in Ann Arbor, and wish you well on the build.

    Cheers!

  3. While away on holiday with the Seven I find it prudent to check the intake and exaust valves.

What are the correct clearances to lash the intake and exaust on a bog standard

    1700 Super Sprint?

    Cheers!

  4. Mobil 1 0-40

    Quick to the bits.

Thick enough to stay in the motor.

Mind you for hard road, track use, or hot weather 15-50 might be better.

  6. Aviation gasoline is too expensive to waste.

I siphoned off a gallon and she stopped dripping. I suppose the mess on the garage floor will evaporate 🙆🏻

And now its started raining *mad*

  7. It appears that I over filled the tank (in hopes of a looooong blat) and "Red" began dripping fule around the bottom of the tank...... *confused*

    Where is she leaking from?

    Whats the fix?

  8. Piers:

From your description whomever built/maintained your car is one sorry bloke.

I have a bog standard 1700SS with 15000 on the clock. It is has great compression and uses no oil. The car is nearly 15 years old and has yet to show any sign of oxidation.

Lets also not piss on Caterham for the Super Sprint engine's short comings. 135 horses is quite a nice tweek on such a limited budget using 80's technology.

Love your Caterham, or sell it, but quit whining.

  9. Do all Caterhams with the standard track use the same rack, wish bones etc, or are there variations for the dedion and lve axle cars?

    Cheers!

  10. Problem solved!!

Turned out to be broken copper strands in ground lead. Slightest movement broke the connection, but insulation hid the damage. Diagnosed by eliminating all other possibilities, and much fiddling with the multi tester. New bike battery is much lighter and fits fine, turns the engine well.

    Thanks all for the help.

    Cheers!

  11. Does using sythetic (Mobil 1) improve your high temp lubrication?

One would assume that using a 0 w 40 or 5 w 50 would improve your low temp lubrication because of improved flow rates. *confused*

    Awaiting enlightenment

  12. 1978 MGB, constant [Lucas] electrical problems. 🙆🏻

What fantastic things I learned and experienced with/in that car!

Also my favorite car until my first Seven. *tongue*

  13. After being stored for the winter the plonker Banner was dead as peace in the middle east, replaced, starter makes several rapid clicks, but does not spin the engine. *mad* tried to jump her, no change. ???????? Any wisdom? Engine is a Super Sprint, 1991, starter is Lucas.

I push started the car and everthing else seems fine.
