    K-Series VVC

Cheers people. That just about clears it up. By the way, just for the record, I was aware that the Vtec system of a second cam differs in concept from the variable valve technology, I just wasn't aware that the VVC operates over the entire rev range - if I've understood it right!

    K-Series VVC

My Girlfriend's sister bought a hairdryer, sorry, an MGF VVC, a few months back and her new boyfriend drove it at the weekend and said it didn't feel or sound like the VVC was working. She doesn't know what VVC is.... I have an Integra with the Honda Vtec system and the second cam makes a huge difference - you couldn't possibly miss it. Should the VVC feel similar? And, if it's not working, is there a cheap fix? Help please

    Vtec engines

I have a Honda Integra Type R and have noticed that the second cam doesn't seem to come in if the engine is cold. Is this normal? Is there an explanation for it? Or is there a problem with the engine? By the way, I don't normally rev the engine when cold, but have done so twice now and noticed it both times. When hot, the second cam kicks in perfectly.
  5. ha ha ha, sorry Nifty, ten thousand apologies! 😳 😳 Still, looks like Richard's not biting! I don't get it!?
  6. Sounds like the ideal car to replace the SL I sold last year, eh Nifty! 😬 Must check those Wednesday Lotto numbers 😬 ............damn, only 1 number.... ☹️ ☹️ I guess you won't take a packet of Jaffa Cakes instead Richard??

    Optimax's Octane?

*confused*Crumbs..... So, really, the answer to my question is to run whatever octane fuel the car's engine was designed to use: in this case 98. 🤔

    Optimax's Octane?

Strange that AVGAS is so expensive then, especially as there is cheap diesel for boats and agricultural vehicles. What do formula 1 cars use then? Isn't that very high octane stuff?

    Optimax's Octane?

Thanks Peter, that's interesting stuff. Thinking about all this 'RON' stuff, led to me recalling something I read in a book about D-Day, where a pilot (I think) was saying that the Aviation fuel they were using was only 97 octane back in WWII. I may have misheard, but it certainly surprised me whatever the figure actually was. It seemed very low. Is that likely?

    Optimax's Octane?

    Thanks, thought it might be

    Optimax's Octane?

I filled up with SuperUnleaded at Sainsbury's this morning (OK, I just wanted to buy one of those breakfast packs!) and noticed that it's 97 octane. My [says quietly] Integra Type R has a sticker on the inside of the fuel filler cap saying that it needs/prefers 98 octane. I was wondering whether I should stick to Optimax (I usually do) but wonder what octane rating it is? Can anyone remember? And, by the way, yes I do hope to buy another Se7en soon!!!
  12. According to the Caterham internet site, it's a "Wheel 7 x 13 Minator Black"
  13. Crumbs, now you're asking...Um, not sure. It's got a black rim with silved inside, with black spokes (from memory). Does that sound normal?
  14. Yep, just one wheel, shod with a single tyre. Both were almost brand new when bought as spares, neither used since. The wheel looks grotty and needs restoration (darn thing was new but was left in a damp garage! ) Tyre looks like it's done a few hundred miles only. Anyone want to offer me something? I'm in Suffolk.

    Bits for sale!

Hi Keith, Good to see you're still around. As you've gathered, I sold the car on after two years of happy motoring (and one crash 😳). Hope you get back into ownership soon - mind you, I hope to get back into ownership soon too!!!!Thanks for the help on the seat - it is the same one 😬 Tom

    Bits for sale!

Steve, The boot cover's still available. Email me off-line please. And to the rest of you vultures 😬 The half-doors are probably sold and the same buyer is vaguely interested in the two seperate adjustable aerodynamic side mirrors. The seat's still available.

    Bits for sale!

JEEPERS!!! *eek* I wasn't offering a free Co-op voucher with each item you know! 😬 Um, I'll get back to everyone at lunchtime! The seat is odd really, my recollection is that it is moulded plastic and not like the standard pukka carbon seats with the high headrest bit. I presume that's because you'd be wearing a helmet when it's fitted. I'll have to drag it out of storage tonight and have a careful look. The aeroscreen is the black plastic one that wraps slightly around the bosdywork at the side. I'm not sure if I've got the fittings for it, but I'll have a look. PS If anyone wants to drop me a sneaky email telling me what these things are worth, I'd appreciate it.

    Bits for sale!

Half-doors, aeroscreen, non-weather-gear boot cover, GRP race seat for sale. All in perfectly reasonable condition, but not new! Awhile ago various people queried their availability, but I've lost contact details. Sorry! Offers please. PS: I'm in Ipswich.
  19. Good point Mark 😬 I can't see why either?! Oh well.... As for buying another se7en - absolutely mate, I definitely will, unless they outlaw them before I get round to it!
  20. I already did, didn't I? The dealer's offered me £13,500 guaranteed on sale or return. He expects to sell relatively quickly. I'll accept anything over that figure
  21. I'm phoning the dealer this afternoon ☹️
  22. pb, that's a good question. I don't know what number she is. She does not have a number plaque like many I've seen. She was built from a kit, according to the guy I bought from. Since then, a potential buyer last year contacted Caterham direct and they confirmed that she was a Superlight and were going to send the original sale documents to him and he was going to let me have copies, but the sale fell through and I didn't get the papers. Hope that helps.
  23. Morning All, Sorry I only have access to the internet from work!!! Um, car's specs are as before:- Something like: normal SL chassis, 1.6 K-series with (apparently) just under 140bhp, but I know not why it would have more than normal. It's not dry-sumped, but it has an Apollo tank. It's done 23,500 miles I think. Suspension set-up was upgraded a couple of summers ago (to handle the same as the R300). 6-speed Caterham gearbox. Cloth seats which do the job but which I planned to change when I bought (but never had the cash), carbon wings (all 4) and nose and dashboard. FIA roll bar and strengthening racing cross-strut (or whatever it's called - I reckon it's designed to impale the passenger!). Um, what else? Usual 13 inch alloys with AO21Rs. Alluminium gear knob. Full weather gear, plus side half doors and aeroscreen from when I had the weather gear fitted (I'm a wimp). Er, plastic (GRP?) race seat. I can't (don't know how) to create a link to my photos but can email some which a mate scanned and sent to me - they're not brilliant!! Time running short but I'm happy to show anyone the car - though, remember, it's untaxed at the minute - because of SORN and the winter. I'm on the Essex/Suffolk border - well the car is, I'm in Ipswich. 😬
  24. My SL1600 T reg as advertised her so many times before is teetering on the brink of heading to a Dealer, to be sold at an exorbitant price to a failed rockstar. Last chance to buy this bright yellow rocket for £14K ono or I'm taking the (even greater loss) and walking away! [boo hoo hoo hoo] I have email photos now! Please buy her now! 😬
