    Coolant

Just to update all who offered their advice last week about overheating, it's the head gasket 🙆🏻 Trevor
  2. Thanks once more for all the tips chaps. Located a cap this morning but it won't be in my possession 'til Monday but this leaves some time to put in a bleed tee piece as suggested. I'll keep you informed - Have a good week-end
  3. Checked oil when running, its clear and at the correct level but that was my major concern yesteday. Halfords have apparently no pressure caps within a 50 mile radius, so I'm not going to solve the promlem today Thanks once again for the life-line, I really appreciate your comments. I'll update you when I've acquired a cap and and replenished coolant - signing off for today - Trevor
  4. Thanks Sandy, I'm going to Halfords this lunch-time so I'll try and obtain one.
  5. CageyH, I read your last point (blown cap) this morning and hope that's the problem. I followed carefully the step-by-step instructions, fired her up and all I got was wet feet as predicted by the Stationary M25 Traveller. Just pouring out of the cap once the engine warmed up rad still only luke warm at the top of the matrix! I did as you advised, pleanty of absorbent cloths took the top hose of the heater valve, placed my thumb over the top heater pipe, filled up back to the pump but no pressure on my thumb. Holding a funnel and pipe as high as can be allowed, I had a good head of water - nothing coming out of the heater circuit. I encouraged flow by sucking on the outlet pipe from heater and then got a flow! Connected quickly and replaced the jubilee clip. Any further clues from my description? Does anyone know where to get a replacement or should I give Caterham a call? Any thing 'spring' to mind? - Trevor
  6. Thanks once again CageyH, I'll try the procedure in about 2 hrs time and report back. Most grateful for your help. Trevor
  7. Thanks for your response cageyH. Coolant level was aproximately half full in header before I left home to fill up with fuel. It's a 1.8 VVC Trevor
  8. Thanks Doug - I'll go out for another another run later. Just didn't want to cause additional expense if there is an unerlying problem. Trevor

Went to fill up with fuel locally (about 2.5 miles). Noticed when pulling in to the forecourt ,water temperature high - almost off the scale when stationary! Nose cone off, radiator and bottom hose stone cold, coolant level appeared to be OK in expansion/header tank. After engine cooled down, I took out the top plug from radiator, no coolant visible! Topped-up radiator, (approximately 1.5 lites) header tank still about half full. Ran the engine 'til warm and coolant now circulating (bottom hose now hot) and drove home. Water temperature normal on the drive home but coolant everywhere. With nose cone off, coolant was pouring out of the filler cap/valve. Once the engine cooled down header tank half full. Did I overfill or should I be looking for something else? Any advice please.
  10. Parked opposite Jeager in the one way system
  11. At approximately 1138hrs - did wave but the sun was bright as you travelled through dappled light!
  12. British racing green, heading off to the eastbound A303 at around 1445hrs yesterday 20th January
  13. Whilst walking back from Hurley to Pinkneys Green after lunch on Christas Eve. Heard, then saw two Caterhams (one yellow, one green). As they passed Nicky and me, we waved as they continued to accelerate and join the A404 heading for the M4; sounded glorious!
  14. How appropriate Dave, It's most probably the VVC Roadsport of numer '7' on the Le Sept - don't have my list of participants handy to confirm names but no doubt someone else will. P.S. We met, albeit briefly, after lunch at the Nogaro circuit. Trevor Dovey
