  1. Standard Type 9 gearbox from Caterham, supplied with a Roadsport 175 kit but not used. 5 Speed, Ratios - 3.65/1.97/1.37/1/0.82 £600 ono Collection preferred but willing to meet halfway if reasonable distance or post at buyers cost.
  2. Ahh of course, why didn't I think of that.
  3. ...just in front of the top of the rear shocks. Anybody know the purpose of this? I'm just finishing the build of my car and this cavity has been left open and I've been supplied with a couple of triangular body coloured ali plates. All photo's I've seen of others have had this plate already riveted on. Only thing I can think of is to make space if your using trick dampers with external reservoirs?
  4. Yeah I'm planning on going down again to spectate and have a nose about. TR
  5. Ahh, I didn't realise the plastic plenum has been around for a while and used on the R300 racers, thought it was a recent development. Seems strange that there has been alternative plenums used for the last few years. Cheers for the welcome, the build is coming along nicely albeit slowly. Taking my time as I'll run out of things to do and trying to enjoy the whole process. JEM - It's gonna be a while before I'll be out on a blat with it unless I come into some money or get a big loan soon. Still got the engine, gearbox, exhaust, cooling system, wheels and weather gear to get! I was intially looking at building a complete K-series classic kit with minimal options and get it on the road this spring, but ended up going down the starter kit route with a higher spec and Duratec which is what I really wanted and I'm not too bothered with the wait (for now). You probably don't remember but I think I had a quick chat and sit in your car (white ex demo R300??) last year at Dave J's Llandow track day, might have got my wires crossed. Planning to get out for the monthly taffia pub meetings to glean some experience from the locals. Cheers, Tim.
  6. Hi there, just like to say a quick hello to the POBC - I've just started building a Duratec S3 from a starter kit, over in South East Wales. I was wondering whether anyone has any experience of a 175/R300 spec Duratec with the new EU5 plastic plenum? I'd not come across them before but noticed in the latest build manual the plenum has changed from the original alloy one. (which is stated as no longer available in the parts store). The new one has the throttle body mounted inline with the plenum rather than angled inwards and is fed via an airbox situated in corner of the engine bay as opposed to the cone filter on the alloy one. I'm after any thoughts and opinions on what the throttle response is like with this set up. One thing I've noticed on my car that I've not seen before is that there are two cooling ducts/holes, shaped a bit like an elongated oval, at the bottom rear corners of the bonnet. This looks like it would help feed a bit of cold air to the new airbox arrangement as well as helping the under bonnet temps. I've not got a lot of experience working on cars but also thinking about going for a self build Duratec on throttle bodies as it'll save a bit of cash and I've got plenty of time to learn with the starter kit build, but erring on the side of keeping with the standard Caterham 175/R300 offering at the moment OK cheers for now, Tim
