  10. Hi all, worth a try on here, selling my BMW 318Ci with only 41,000 miles on the clock, in excellent condition, having been very well looked after by my dad before me, he did 13,000 dry miles in 13 years! If anybody is interested the car is currently on eBay. Please look on there for more information and detailed photos. A really fantastic example of a great car. I would be happy to reduce the price slightly for a Club member. Any questions, please ask.

  13. Hi, I have been looking around for Carbon rear arches with very little success, does anybody now of any other manufacturers that are selling these. Thanks in advance.
  14. Hi John, sounds very much like you had the same problem, I think I will order a new cap and try that. Bit of a worrying problem when your not sure if it works until you have tried it. Extreme heat and pressure always a worry somethings going to give if not working correctly.
  15. Hi Level is normal when cold, as it gets hot before the fan cuts in the level of coolant in the tank increases and very nearly fills the tank to the top. A faulty cap could be the problem.
  16. I only put a small amount in the header tank just by removing the header tank cap as described in the manual, wasn't aware I had to bleed anything. No temperature problems before this. Parked the car after a ride out about a month ago then was going to pop out again today. Is there not something in the coolant system that vents when the water gets so hot. The fan cuts in perfectly when it should to drop the temperature.
  17. Hi Jonathan, when It had cooled down I toped up the coolant, ran it for a short while but turned it off as the header tank was bubbling and the water level increasing and was a bit worried what was going to happen.
  18. Found a small puddle of coolant liquid under my 420R today prior to going out for a short drive. On further inspection I found a slight leak on the hose from the bottom of the header tank so tightened up the jubilee clip. I then started the car and took it up to 90 degree as I normally do to check the oil, oil level fine so left the car for about 10 minutes, (car not running) when I returned there was a huge puddle about 2 foot round under the car, obviously shot out under pressure from somewhere but there was coolant everywhere so was unable to find where it came from. There is some form of valve in the coolant tank cap that must serve some form of purpose but not sure what. Any ideas? Faulty cap maybe???????

    620 owners

Hi all, I'm only speaking from a 420r point of view but I'm sure the gauges are very similar. I've just returned from a 9 day European tour and got to know my fuel gauge very well as we covered 2300 miles. I found you can go into the red and out the other side into the little white bit with the R written next to it then fill up to find you can still only get about 26-27 Ltr in it. I think the best thing to do is learn by trial and error to see how far you dare go on a full tank.

    420 dry sump

Hi Michael, many thanks for your response, I've have a R500 k and a CSR 260 and now a 420 R and always struggled with the oil levels for the dry dump, worries me to death, I guess the answer is over kill with oil quantity as it will go into the catch tank if overfilled. Steve.

    420 dry sump

Hi all, picked up my long awaited 420 today and I'm after a bit of advice from anyone with a 420 regarding checking and topping up the oil in the dry dump. I have read the Caterham hand book but it's not overly clear. Many thanks
