  1. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/caterham/all-models/2001/4959890#VjfLOU4UuaD80CXf.03 Selling my pride and joy for family reasons. Great track car, k series with supersport kit and forged pistons, straight cut gearbox, wide track front suspension, bag tank, built in fire extinguisher, drivers tillet seat, 4 spare wheels, spare screen, extra seat, half hood, toneau, stack system. Good Yoko tyres. £9500. Will include trailer for £1500.
  2. Hi, I need to get my engine out to repair the gearbox, does anyone have an engine hoist that I could borrow in the Liverpool area? Many thanks! Jon
  3. If you do decide to go for it speak to Phil at Road and Race first, he will fill you in on the options Jon
  4. Many thanks for your advice, have arranged service with Martin. Jon
  5. I have just bought a Woodford trailer, on the way back from Brands yesterday one of the wheels was seizing and brake drum was extremely hot. I have previously asdjusted each drum - just until there was a slight resistance. I suspect that the brake drums are seizing, is there anyone near Kingston that you would recommend to take a look? Jon
  6. From bitter eperience I would definitely recommend using the gasket between the bellhousing and box. I fitted my gearbox recently (with sealant) and had an oil leak from the top area. I asked Phil at Road and Race to fit the bellhousing second time round- he used a gasket with sealant particularly round that top area!
  7. Hi, Could I buy the 40 piece socket set, 11 piece wrench and 10 piece spanner set? Jon
  8. Yes I did use MTL, I don't think the oil type is the issue.
  9. Ok, have just been through the whole engine removal process and did use a leveller. I will split the engine and gearbox this time as I think this will be easier.
  10. Yes it did happen just after the build. Did you mean the big central washer, is it held in place by the lid?
  11. Ok, clutching at straws.
  12. Does anyone know whether it is possible to remove the gearbox without actually lifing out the engine? Car is S3 with K series and type 9 box.
  13. Many thanks for your responses. Looks like I will need to get the box out and take it to Road and Race this time. I was hoping that it was only a selector problem but I dont think it is. Lesson learnt - always go with your gut feelings! I was originally going to take it to R&R but I changed my mind.
  14. Would it still seize in gear if it was a synchro ring?
