  1. And the same plea from me but for a different reason . . . 2024 Championship T-shirts.  All entrants get one and it's good to be able to hand them out to those who compete at the first event of the season - Anglesey hopefully.  It's more cost effective, and less of a faff, if I can place the order for all the shirts in one go.  In order for the supplier to buy in the shirts, get the designs set up, print and embroider the shirts, bag and pack them up and send them to me before Anglesey, I need numbers and sizes (which I will get from your championship entry form) before 14 March.

So come on, get your entry in and look forward to another year of great motorsport

  2. The Swift Ladies Cup has been awarded since 1992 (first awarded to Lizzie Backwith) to the fastest lady at Curborough over a season, I believe.

Unfortunately two of the engraved shields from the base of the cup have been lost and I would like to get them replaced.  I wonder if anyone can recall, or find out, who was presented with the cup on two of the years from 1995 to 1999

The cup will be presented again at the Speed Championship Awards lunch at Chesford Grange Hotel, Warwick on 28 October  so it would be nice to get it fixed before then

  3. Looking at the entry list and Andy's note of who asked for a garage space, it looks like there are 26 cars entered but only 21 cars asked for a garage space. So working on 8 cars per garage leaves three spare garage spaces

I suggest the following allocation for those that requested spaces

garages 17 and 18. Team Boston, Charlie Wilson, Andy Winston, John Clarke, Ivan Pullen, Team Cumming, (two spare places)

garages 19 and 20. Rob Jacobs, Lewis Carine, Justin Dobson, Tony Smith, Paul Collins, Phil Matchwick, Bryan Herriot, Team Jones

garages 21 and 22. Rob Spencer, Chris Alston, Chris Whitlow, Mike Sankey, Malcolm Hickey, Richard Price, Simon Rogers (one spare place)

  4. I'd like to be in a garage too please.  I can try to book one when they go live, if we are not precluded from doing so by some other agreement.  Any news on this Andy?

  5. After two engine rebuilds in 10,000 miles (due to issues before I bought the car *biggrin*), when the car seemed to have been filled with kangaroo petrol and black smoke came out of the exhaust when I revved my 420R on the way home from a week's touring in Brittany, I was anticipating the worst.  Driving up the M1 it would accelerate fine but would not cruise at an even 70mph without juddering, kangarooing etc. and making the diff sound like maybe that was even the problem.
I found this thread when I got home, checked the plugs (all sooty) disconnected the lambda (thanks James) and went for a blast.  Now running well, so checked the plugs; now a beautiful light tan colour. Result!
So thanks to Bucko for sharing his problem and to all you lot who helped him (or her etc *eek*) which helped me out and probably others too.
Lambda sensor now replaced (£55 from Sparkplugs.co.uk) and plugs still looking lovely and no engine rebuild again ... yet.

  6. I've used Nobel on a number of occasions now and have always been happy with their work both on tin top and sevens. My seven has been on their rolling road but only to optimise cam timing, not to map the ecu. They have been around a long time now so they must be doing something right but whether they have the expertise you're looking for . . .?  Give them a call, they're always helpful

  7. Our T-shirt supplier has informed me that one of the men's XL shirts has a fault on it - a hole where there shouldn't be one apparently. They've sent a replacement to me so if you were a men's XL at Caldwell on Saturday please check your shirt and let me know if yours has the fault and we can arrange to swap it out

  8. Just a reminder/prompt that the regs for the sprint at Cadwell on Saturday specify we must have our car number on each side but also forward facing (shown on the nose in their example) or if it's on a windscreen it should be yellow.

    It's getting exciting now *driving*

  9. Get your entry in by Thursday 9 March if you want an anniversary championship t-shirt.

Our first event this year is a bit earlier that normal, on the 25th March at the delicious Cadwell Park, and we're procuring the championship t-shirts in a single batch in order to be able to let competitors have their splendid new paddock-wear at Cadwell.

So if you're thinking of entering the speed championship this year and want to look the part in the paddock, please get your entry in via LoveAdmin by Thursday this week

  10. I hope you all got your Goodwood entries in as the Bognor Regis Motor Club website is now saying the entry list is full. But they are still accepting entries onto the reserve list
