  1. Thanks very much Andrew. I have found some 1/4" x 1 1/4" hardened ground pins on line which might be ideal. I will make sure and measure tomorrow. Thanks once again. Regards Peter.
  2. Nearly got all the parts to replace the missing chain tensioner for my Ford crossflow but the pivot pin which holds the pad is missing. Does anyone know what type of pin this is? Solid, Rollpin, Slotted pin etc and does it need a retainer at the end to stop the pad shifting sideways. This is the pin which goes in the main bearing. I have trawled the internet but to no avail so would be grateful for any guidance.Thank you and Happy New Year. Peter
  3. Unfortunately I'm getting no reply from their phone but I suspect you are right. I have put one on order from Burton's and in the meantime I will use a single pad. Hopefully only for a few months. I'll try ringing them again in New Year and let you know if I'm lucky. Happy new year to everyone and thanks for all your replies. Peter
  4. Thank you. It would really help. I tried to order this on your website but it doesn't show "Add to cart" Any suggestions? Peter
  5. Thanks Roger. The only problem is that a double pad has been on order from Burtons for months originally promised the end of this year but again delayed. Not sure for how long. I can report that the engine was originally built by yourself and still going strong after 31 years. That say's a lot about your engineering expertise. Thanks, Peter
  6. I have decided to put a chain tensioner on my cross flow engine as I would love to get rid of that rattle when decelerating. I have a genuine Ford tensioner and pad albeit a single pad for a duplex chain but no fixings etc. The tensioner will need two bolts 5/16" unc, i have to measure the length but I've no idea about the pad as there seems to be no thread in the main cap. Could this be held on a rollpin or similar? I have spent so much time on the internet to no avail. I'm hoping someone out there will know or have an exploded diagram showing all the parts of the engine. It would be lovely to get the old engine running quieter and then I can hear myself singing joyfully along the country lanes. Thanks. Peter
  7. Thanks for all your suggestions. In the end I went with WOSP from Auto Electric Supplies who sent it out within a day but I wish I had read Sooty's reply a bit more carefully as although I sent pictures to them for identification they sent a starter to suit a 110 tooth ring and guess what? I have a Pinto 135 tooth ring. Anyway they are sorting it out and I should get it back after the pinion is changed after the Christmas shutdown. So be warned, count your teeth before ordering. Thanks to everyone for replying and Merry Christmas to you all. Peter
  8. I need a new starter motor for 1800 crossflow. Any recommendations please for Hi-Torque. Thanks

  10. I had what I thought was a misfire last year through France. Changed the usual things, leads, plugs, dizzy cap but then found the real problem was the adjustable fuel restrictor. Took it off and everything was fine. When I dismantled it I found a bit of grit in it. Worth a try if you've got one fitted.
