Booked on Scenic Car Tours Cairngorms and North East 250 in June. 8 Days 550 miles on some of the best roads in Scotland and less motor homes than NC500. See that the Big Picnic is en route for us traveling north, ticks a couple of boxes.
  2. I also have a pre-war BSA Scout (car) which is 6 volt positive earth. Use a Genius 5 battery charger which works on 6 and 12 volt and is actually used more on the Caterham. Other BSA owners who have converted their cars to 12 volt retain the original starter without a problem. Reliable electric starting had not been around for that long and engines of this age would start using a crank handle. As Elie says good thick cables and sound connections.
  3. Good advice above. After moving the pedals back they can be too high as well, so we have fitted a reversible panel which raises the driver's heels by about 30mm.
  4. Twisted the allen key and bolt has still not moved! Might see about borrowing power impact driver. (Oily have sent you an email) P.
  5. Thanks and making progess. Ground a screw driver head to fit the ring gear on the flywheel and crank bolt released, hooray. Still struggling with the cam tensioner bolt, please tell me that it is right hand thread! P.
  6. Thanks, thought it may be better to steer clear of the bargains on Ebay. Rimmers looks like the place to go to, although did call the local Rover dealer, he did not know the colour of the seal. Everything has come apart easily until cam tensioner and bolt on the end of the crankshaft, any ideas welcomed. P
  7. Looks as though I will have to remove the head on my 1.8 1997 K series. Seems to be any number of head gaskets on offer at varying prices. Which is the correct one to use? Any recommendations or more significant any to avoid. Intend to replace the bolts as well.
