  5. Just got my car back from MOT and minor works and as I have a small oil leak, thoughts I'd check the oil level. Guess what ... white gunk the same as you. Immediately thought there was a problem, checked oil on dip stick, no worries there, then checked oil filler, no problems. Therefore is most probably one of those winter things, as where it was and where its kept are cold and the one at home has a tumble dryer close by, so I guess its the con. Been out for a blat after cleaning it, what a great day. Porky
  6. Thanks very much Regards Porky
  7. Hi Guys My 7 is in for MOT and minor electrical work. I've been told that the rectifier in the alternator is the likely reason for my red warning light coming on. Can anyone tell (garage shut), what the rectifier does? Ta V much 87 1700xflow
  8. I had the same problem with my bench seat, short legs, distant peds. I bought a lumber support from Halfords, which makes this the most comfortable car I've driven!!! plus it moves me forward by about 2inches, enough to touch the controls with no adjustment. Porky
  9. Has any body experienced this? Turning the ignition to off and the engine still runs. Check the barrel and the rear assembly has disconnected itself from the key barrel. Pushes back on but I cannot see an obvious way to stop this from happening, problem is I reckon with the right size/shape tool the car would start with no problem and of course...no key. One for a dark winters night. Best Ws Porky
  10. Are the doors still available, if so are they the ones with bulges in? Regards Porky
  11. Just replaced my battery, failed due to the cold weather. Tried charging for several hours, but still didn't light up the warning lamps. In my search for a new battery yesterday non of the factors had a battery in stock, many didn't know what a Caterham was (Kwik Fit asked if it was a Jap car!!!). In the end went to Halffords and purchased a new one. Now the question, the old battery was 260amp the new one is 335 amp (I think). What is the impact of having the increased ampage? The Halfords guy said it would hold charge longer in colder weather....is this the case? As always Porky
  12. I have a 1700x flow fitted with Revolution wheels and Goodyear NCT HR70 185/70HR13 tyres. Can anyone give me correct pressures for them? Pleease. Porky
  13. Hi guys Thanks for all the comments. I had a prolonged look at the wiring yesterday as the alternator seemed to be charging the battery OK. My main beam goes off (fuse trips) when they've been on a while so I generally checked the connections, all seemed Ok. I then noticed the gubins (technical term) behind the ignition barrel were loose, so pushed this back home. Fingers crossed, the light stayed off for the 30 mile trip I made. So I am hoping thats sorted. Porky Suspension next............
  14. Hi guys Car is 1700 x flow and suspension has the jitters when driving on most roads, only very smooth roads effect it less. The infos great. Ta Porky
