I have taken the car to the same MOT garage for the past few years, the last couple we have manually entered the chassis details as no match could be found on the MOT station PC. The garage pointed out I may get a request to take the car for DOT inpection and sure enough the request arrived. A nice inspector gave the car a once over, scratched her head and said that she didn't know why there was a different chassis number on the V5 and the car? A few weeks further on and I receive a letter saying a new chassis number had been assigned to the car and to get it stamped onto the plate. How do I do that, order a blank plate? Surely you can't order those from the point of view of security??

makes me wonder if I am doing the right thing when the caption on photo's posted on the 50th pages call the car 'beautiful caterham with wires'
