  1. The LEAST EXPENSIVE 2015 Spec Caterham in the Country For sale 2015 specification Caterham Academy car with both the new style BMW differential and Mazda gearbox. The car was registered in November 2014. The car was factory built and has had one owner from new and is in excellent condition with 1,560 miles. The car is unpainted (aluminium body, so ideal for wrapping or could be painted) with a black nose, roll-cage, wings, wheel-centres and the Caterham blackpack (headlamps, fuel-filler and windscreen surround) The full specification is: Ford Sigma 125bhp engine with MSA seals intact Mazda 5 speed manual gearbox Quick release Momo steering wheel & push button start Full cage with side intrusion bar Full Weather Equipment (doors and hood) Lowered floors for taller drivers Tillett seats with 6 and 4 point harnesses Plumbed in fire extinguisher & electrical cut-off switch New style Apollo wheels Built-in timing transponder As you would expect this car has not been driven far and was transported via trailer to almost all events this year. Due to the time commitment I have decided not to continue racing Caterhams. The car has just returned from a strip-down and rebuild by Matt Blyth Motorsport in Eversley including a replacement of all the body panels (so the car looks showroom fresh) See the following link for more details http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/caterham/all-models/caterham-academy-roadsport-2015-model/5031221
  2. Hi, does anyone have any suggestions please for adjusting a steering column so that it doesn't touch against the timing belt tensioner housing (on a sigma 125 car)? Needless to say, it causes quite a lot of vibration through the steering. I have tried to move the UV joint (but perhaps not surprisingly) to no avail. Many Thanks, Paul.
  3. thank you v much Duckpit. Alas, I guessed that a lot of elbow grease would be involved
  4. Hi - my car is only 6 months old but I've already noticed a significant number of stonechips particularly along the left-hand side where the flanks are not protected by the exhaust. As my car is unpainted I wondered if anyone might have a suggestion about the best way to treat these? I'm concious that any abrasive treatments would involve taking on the whole side of the car but I wondered if there was even an alternative? Any and all feedback welcome. Many Thanks, Paul.
  5. Hi, I’m looking for a place where I can buy the male-side of the plug that connects to the heater switch on the wiring loom of a 1.6 Sigma car. I’m told on cars that don't have a heater that it is left attached to the steering column and isn’t plugged in and hence you can run a 12v supply from the same plug. My question is where can I buy the male side of the plug? I don't want to change the plug completely in case I want to install a heater later Any feedback appreciated.

    Boot Liner

Hello, Does anyone know of an 'off-the-shelf' or ingenious way to create a boot liner or floor for an S3 Caterham? I'm particularly interested in the sound deadening qualities of such a thing if that makes it any easier. As always, any feedback and advice welcomely received. Best, Paul.
  7. Dear All, I collected my newly road registered Superlight from the factory a few weeks ago & I she is an absolute job. One niggle though which is partially spoiling the fun factor. On a motorway cruise & with the roof on, the shrill noise from the limited slip diff is quite ear piercing. It makes conversation in the car pretty hard and on one 4 hour journey I got a perforated eardrum (yep). I realise that the superlight by nature is barebones but does anyone have any suggestions for suppressing the noise or toning it down a few octaves... Any & all advice welcomely received. Paul.
  8. Hi, I just completed my build of a Superlight 150 but I've also just been sent abroad with my job. As a result my brand new engine hoist (used only once : ) and roller dolleys are being given away free to a good home... I'll even throw in a wheelchair ramp that's ideal for moving Caterhams about too. Only stipulation is that they can be collected from London W11. Pics enclosed below Best, Paul Roller Dolley & Hoist Pics
  9. Apols I should have included that but the inertia switch has been pushed home so hopefully that's been eliminated from enquiries. I also tried with the inertia switch disconnected but to no avail. Cheers.
  10. Hello, I've made my inaugural attempt to start the car (it's a sigma 150) and follow the start-up procedure in the manual. Very satisfying to have finally reached this stage. However, on stage II of the ignition I've been listening for the fuel pump to prime but unfortunately it's not making a sound. I've checked the immobiliser (factory fitted Sterling Excel) and that seems to be working okay. The cars other systems (lights, fans etc.) all seem to be in order. Any suggestions please? Could it be that the fuel tank earth isn't attached (clutching at straws perhaps)? All feedback welcome as ever. Best, Paul.
  11. Thank you Jeffi, much appreciated..
  12. Hello, daft question I know - but where is the engine number on a Sigma engine? I found one number on the edge of the bell housing and a 2nd at the rear of the block under the cam-cover but which is the real one? (or is there a 3rd?) Thank you all, Paul.
  13. Thanks All, this feedback has been priceless. I'm still yet to experience a problem this forum hasn't solved. Cheers, Paul.
  14. Jason & John - thank you v much for your replies. Paul
  15. Hi, can anyone point me towards the best method to install a 12v power socket onto Sigma powered car please? I ticked the option box on the order form when the car was new but all I seem to have is the socket (no wiring) & no instructions. All feedback welcome... Cheers, Paul
