I bought a 2 yrs old 310R from Gatwick 2 weeks ago and it was quickly obvious the LSD wasn't right, on checking the preload had completely vanished, I spoke to Caterham aftersales only to be told thats how they should be and only older diffs exhibit any preload. Knowing that is utterly incorrect I pushed to get it looked at only to be told that they would need the car for a month whilst the diff is sent to R&R for analysis and they would then decide what warranty cover there maybe, This is just not on so I have dropped the diff out today and taking to the amazingly helpful R&R this week and have it rebuilt whilst I wait and see if they think it's the normal carbon plate issue.
I'll report findings later in the week.

The Rover 220 Turbo did have an iron block but itn't a K series so somewhat irrelevent
It's a T series which is an evolution of the 8V engine in the Montego, also found in the earlier 800 Vitesse

That should have been 60019 of course !

Fantastic run to Norwich and back, arrived back at Bas just before midnight. She ran faultlessly and spent most of the run from Ely to Norwich at high speed, must have looked and sounded awesome from the platforms of the stations we flashed thro' with her kylchap exhaust blaring
She is at Eastleigh at present so may go LE back to Southall (to shed with 60013) soon, if so (and she goes via Bas) I'll let you know

Yes I got the clutch and CRB from Caterham, the other parts from 'stock' and the local Rover agent.

Yellow with slightly naughty number plate joining A303 at Andover West and leaving Andover East tonite at about 17:30.
Typically it's the first day for a week I didn't use the 7 for the x country commute Basingstoke to Salisbury, were you going to use the B road from where you left the A303 ? Its a cracking road at 0600 but a bit busy in the evening but still brightens my day up :o)
I was in the black Smartie in front of you round the slip road
-
I changed the entire clutch, CRB and rear main oil seal on my dry sumped K in just over 6 hrs, very straightforward job and much easier than all the fwd car clutches I have done over the years.
In a 7 yes you whip the engine out
AP uprated clutch, CRB, gaskets, new hoses and oil and antifreeze cost £357 all in. Already had a lightweight flywheel but worth considering too....
-
A lightweight flywheel has pros and cons, it makes the engine keener to rev and is good for h & t downchange blipping but make the idle 'heavy'
No need to change the rear main if ok, mine was leaking and contributed to my clutch slip
-
Just changed the clutch, CRB, rear main oil seal, stat, J hose and flywheel over the weekend and compared to the many other cars I've had to remove the engine from over the last 25 yrs it's a pleasure to work on the 7
3.5 hrs to get it out and on to the workmate,
2 hrs to remove flywheel, change oil seal and refit (lightweight) flywheel and new uprated clutch, change 'stat and hoses
4hrs to refit
2 hrs to fill oil and coolant and test 😬

As new polished R500 / K roller barrel collector and cat (CC CSP657A) including EU3 Lambda sensor and black heat shield, all in VGC. can supply EU2 Lambda sensor if required.
