  1. thanks guys Been on to caterham today;- looking at their pricing I can get an R300 for the same price as the spec i want on the Roadsport 175 so may go that route, the paln was a totally black car with a the Brooklands screen only (maybe chrome healight rims) so the R300 looks a good bet as it has most parts;- Keep em coming!!
  2. Selling the 996 Turbo and building a Roadsport;- need some ideas on Spec, 5 speed versesd 6 speed etc etc, is it worth it over the 150? I'm going for a Stack set up cos I like it and black pack , colour TBA Ideas and experiance welcome;- Oh and I'm building it myself ( the boys also want to interfere)
  3. This is now moving forward as I’ve spent some time today talking to Peter at Raceline. He is suggesting a 2.0 Zetec with 175HP 🥰 and recons I could do the whole lot for £6000 on top of the starter kit. Sounds great and I was wondering if anybody has done this or can give me any feed back on Raceline
  4. I've sold the live axle and am now looking at building from a kit. What I really want is a classic with a 150 zetec *tongue*however the only way to get this is via a Roadsport and then either sell the spares or untick the options, but this is a £4K extra for the 125hp engine alone. Can anybody tell me what the difference between the 125 and 150 engine is as its another £2K premium on the 125 Roadsport. I was thinking of a starter kit (about £6K)and then adding the 150HP engine, gearbox etc, again any advice would be appreciated, surely this is not going to cost upwards of £10K . Is it me or do Caterham have a hole between the classic and the Roadsport?
  5. The Boy mail me and I will send some pics, they are still available amd the fit behind the wipers with a mirror in th centre Nick
  6. I'm selling my Brooklands screens along with a few live axle half shafts and a diff with a broken (toothy) crown and pinoin wheel (for rebuild or case) and a set of arch protectors. Listed on Ebay but if there any sensible offers (not really sure what the screens should go for but Dominic at Caterham recons £350ish) I will end the autions early
  7. just sold my classic, can you give me details
  8. I've sold the 7 and am looking to build one from a kit, what I'd really like is a classic with either the 125hp or 150 hp sigma, can this be done. I want to aim for a more managable car that does not require constant maintainace, has a de dion rear, etc No sure if I can stretch to a new roadsport, but any guidance would be helpfull, (even an unfinished kit.......)
  9. I’m about to sell my Super seven and get a kit for a road sport 150 and have a guy interested in mine;- trouble is he is 6ft 6in tall. Is there any way of extending or increasing the driver’s foot well length? I also think that if he went for a slim seat we could gain a few inches. As a note if anybody is looking for a super seven 1600VX single cam it has now got a new diff, half shafts bearings etc, Tax and test, V reg (2000) with 19500 miles if this is not a practical solution ( I know probably should be in the for sale)
  10. Nice car, looks great, I have an ali S7 with a Vx engine, just want to know how you gte the ali looking so good!!!
  11. Halfords get my vote too, (just rebuilt diff etc) only some to their racket spanners are a but bigger, try the Blue point range they are snap on but 'economy' I bought a set for son 2 and they are really quite good.
  12. Just thought you might like to know that the diff is all where it should be and we're back on the road, I did'nt even have any bits left over . New ratio seems to suit a bit better, it seems to pull stronger, and is noticably quieter, I had to replace the half shafts (as you may recal the bearings were welded on but the previuos owner was convinced otherwise as I feelt that it was a bit rich to have a all this trouble within 300 miles of purchase 😔) so bought new and Redline pressed the bearings on. I now have a couple of half shafts (with bearings!) and a diff that is OK aside from a few teeth on the pinoin wheel and one on the crown wheel, I guess that they could be services or for spares if anybody wants them. Anyway many thanks for all the help and guidance etc etc (especially Brunel)I'll send some dosh to NTL
  13. Mr Fixit

    ratios etc

I've sourced a diff(Thanks Brunel) however it's a 3.67 ratio and the original is a 4.11. The box is standard. Can anybody point me at or assist WRT the change in speedo readings etc. aslo any input as to what the overall change on acceleration would be useful. The car is used for general road and i do want to attend the odd track day. Much appreciated 😶‍🌫️
  14. Dave I have the Ital haynes 'assembly is the reverse of the above' manual and there is a pic of the hub but it's not clear which side it is IE which is the front of the car, can you identify the leading shoe? I can see where the Handbrake fits so is the this lever side the leading edge Nick
  15. Can anybody help with the assembly of the hub etc onto the rear axle, I just need to know where the paper washer goes, (I'l use an instand gasket for the outer seal to the axle) and which is the leading shoe onthe brakes, I was hoping that I could rememeber but old age is catching up 😔 Nick
