  1. Have a look at Firestick.  They were demonstrating at Stoneleigh kit car show and had an offer of £65 for their 50 second version (normal price is £74). They remain usable for up to 15 years and we're very impressive. Coincidentally my brother had been talking about them earlier in the week and I'd never heard or seen them at all

  2. If this was a group at the Newhaven fuel station around 11.30am, it was the charity run led by Chris Williams from Prestbury and heading around the peaks on the Prostrate 150 NW blat

I think there were 10 cars in total

  3. Hi Steve,

Maybe replace the locking rods?  You can get them from Brian James in Daventry.  You will have t cut them down but at least it means you can have them a touch longer if you wish.

Also be careful to position your car in the middle of the trailer to allow for the cover to sway and avoid rubbing on the rear wings

  4. Thanks for the links and suggestions.  The Sigma unit was good as it had a programable odometer so you could retain a total mileage if you changed the battery.  I'll have a look at the ones above

  5. Does anyone run a cycle speedo in their seven?  I have a Sigma BC1600 that has stopped working and wonder if there is a more modern alternative out there.  I suppose I'm after a wired version unless the wireless ones are a lot better than ones from a few years ago.  Any suitable suggestions?

    TIA

  6. I've had bare Ali cars and painted is far easier to keep clean. I'd spend a couple of days polishing before going to events and if it was a bit wet, it wasn't worth the trouble. Now people use Mother's Mag polish which seems to protect the bare Ali better but personally I'd go for a painted car. If you want the bare look, maybe go for a light silver paint or perhaps a shiny wrap

  7. Neil - I hadn't realised that the planets were in alignment for this special event - and with a bit of moisture in the air.  For anyone interested, if you want to see a car that is as new despite the 20+ years, this is the one!

With regards the MOT, my place have checked the regulations and are happy for a visible smoke test for all Caterhams - although there is a localish owner (with a perverse sense of irony) who actually requests the emissions check so he can revel in how low his results are and well mapped his car is!!

JV - we have another local owner with exactly what you suggest although his Xflow kit is from 1988 but was IVA'd and registered at the very end of 2008 and carries an 08 reg

  8. I suppose from an aesthetics (sp?) point of view, the Caged double diagonal is a more modern look.  Arch have produced a double diagonal but I think they were special request whereas Caged would be off the shelf
