Is using an air box assembly S3 cars CC part number 30E179C the easiest way to do it?
Plus hose etc and hole in bonnet. -
Is the XL rating for the 14" size significant?

I had exactly the same last year. New battery was the answer.

According to my handbook it is 4.5 litre without heater and 5.1 litre with heater

Consider a dehumidifier in the garage- not cheap to run however I think it is worth it

Hi Brian
On my S3 - I have between the chassis and lowered floor ( as CC supplied fitting details)
30P065A spacer
Harness mounting plate
S65L swivelling insert
S156 spacer washer
If any of the above are missing it may explain the difference you refer to

I am thinking of buying one to help with jobs both car and general DIY while having lots more time at home
Is any Dremel model better than another?
Corded or cordless?
Kit or drill plus selected tools?
Comments and advice appreciated and thank you in advance

I have asked this before - as I understand it
"When an XL tyre is run at the pressure recommended by the vehicle manufacturer, it will last longer. These tyres are considered to have greater grip and better traction. Because they are more rigid, they will corner better and maintain stability. They also transmit power from the engine to the road more quickly, which may be an important feature in performance cars. In addition, XL tyres can provide better resistance to the extra load from acceleration and braking, and the centrifugal force from cornering. On the other hand, these tyres are usually slightly noisier than standard load tyres."
They do tend to be used on SUV's and performance cars - cars that are heavier and/or put significant loads on the tyre when driven hard. Judging by the mainly positive comments on here they seem ok on a 7

I was also in heavy rain, and in stationary traffic on M1 for a while, heading North on the way home from the Classic. My Thundersports half hood in vinyl coped well although some water came in onto my right shoulder as it ran off the hood. Same on other side but no passenger was getting wet. Car a bit damp inside when I got home however I was (too) warm and dry. Have never used the full hood as the half hood does the job

I was asked for my VIN Code so that the tester knew the engine variant in my car when doing the emissions test
If you need it you can find the detail in
DVSA
Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency
In Service Exhaust Emission Standards for Road Vehicles
Nineteenth EditionAll my car needed was a rear light bulb that tester replaced FOC

Unibond No More Nails double sided tape has worked for me. 5 years on the nose one and still appears strongly held

Problem fixed and it was an earth fault. A loose connection on the engine mount nearside near the front wheel.
The bolt securing the earth was too long and bottomed out without getting the earth lead firmly secured and hence a poor connection. The incorrect bolt had been used when the engine went back in so the bolt was tight but just not holding the earth lead so about a 1mm gap.

Many thanks for the suggestions to try so will give them a go.
I don’t have a wiring diagram however I think I know where the earthing points are on the car.

Hi Jonathan
In answer to your questions
The stutter seems to affect the engine as well albeit very briefly. A bit like a heart missing a beat.
When hazards are on both lights in the Rev counter would normally work together. Only the R hand one works both at normal indication and hazards at the moment. However intermittently both indicator lights work ok as normal. I could start the car from cold and all will appear well, then I get going and the fault appears, often when I lift off to shift down a gear
Hence it is all a bit odd and I am keen to get it sorted.
Please let me know if you have any further thoughts and thank you for your interest

I have the same fault occurring since the engine and gearbox were out of the car recently. Rev counter and gauges drop to zero for a split second then pick back up again. Left hand indicator light in rev counter doesn’t work but indicator does. Weird indeed. “Expert” advice so far is that it is an earthing fault. Can’t get booked in for full electrical check for another 2 weeks. Car still drives ok apart from the very brief ‘stutter’ when the fault occurs.
All opinions welcome

An open pair for me please.

Am I correct in thinking a Racetech mirror mount will also fit if the mounting hole spacing is 38mm?
Ear defenders again

I use the Honeywell Howard Leight Noise Blocking Stereo earmuffs.
They have built in speakers so you can plug in your iPod (or phone) and not need ear buds I.e. they are wired and not Bluetooth. Okay over sunglasses. Currently about £28
