  2. Um, you have a K right? I have a lowered floor and the bottom of my K sump is significantly lower than the floor - you should be fine 😬 They mean sideways, not back to front
  3. -- what the same spec of engine sounds like in a 7 on the rolling road -- But that just sounds like my VVC, but louder with more induction noise. Which is what I'd expect from a VVC with roller barrels. The 21's engine sound had real character, something lacking from mine. -- Roller barrels, light head port, skim, lightweight flywheel, updated MEMS, increased fuel pressure and a rear exit exhaust with twin tailpipes and you'll be there! -- My understanding (and please correct me if I am wrong), is that none of the above bar the exhaust change would give me a VVC that sounds like the one in the 21. Louder and revvier maybe, but still completely lacking in character. Though I wonder what difference changing the exhaust cam would make...
  4. Oh right yeah, the 21 with a VVC - is there any hope my 'silent' VVC could ever sound like that????
  5. What is it about that roundabout, seems to be the place I'm always spotted. Oh hang on, where you in the red thing I noticed behind me - sorry bluetooth headset, was on the phone... If that was you, I remember being annoyed at how much better the red cars engine sounded:)
  6. Wolfman wrapped today, so should be loads of parking for a while. I spotted the same car outside the house at the end of Pinewood road, so maybe rented
  7. Tomas mentioned that there has been a lot of talk about this on a French forum as it seems that the VVC is popular over there - the general consensus was that removing the cat indeed led to a drop in power. With someone posting dyno graphs a few weeks ago after fitting throttle bodies on his VVC, that showed a 15hp gain but a significant drop in torq under 6250 rpm, I have decided to leave my VVC alone and enjoy it as it is 😬 Well, there is always the Turbo Technics VVC supercharger upgrade
  8. Oddly it was left in the overflow car park with no tunneau and a removable momo still attached - we have been having heavy showers all day so I hope it has holes in the floor Nice to see someone else struggling with the main gate 😬 If is somone here, drop by Useful sometime (usually has a green/yellow SV opposite) for a cup of tea πŸ˜Άβ€πŸŒ«οΈ
  9. I'd second that 😬 I hadn't driven anything on 4 wheels for 15 years before I got my seven last year, and I'd say that the iron ZV3's kept me out of trouble for the first few months as they were so awful I had no option but behave. Now my SV is on r888's and nailed to the road, I dread to think what I would done if the car had been like that day 1:) Can't help you there, just changing the tires on my car showed up the limitations of the suspension setup, and brakes 😬 Edited by - mechadaniel on 30 May 2008 15:45:04
  10. Me going home from work - why am I always spotted in Langley and nowhere else - odd!
  11. Me driving very gingerly on new r888 😬
  12. Congrats:) Amazing aren't they 😬 The first night I used them I was furious, that Caterham sell lights that are so inferior is just bloody dangerous πŸ˜” The thing is, though I think for safety reasons that everyone who uses a Seven at night should have a set, they have made my green/yellow car look pretty unique so... DON"T BUY EM!!!! If Angus brings his car up to the next Surrey meet, it would be fun to put my Oscar H4's up against his new SVC's
  13. Not a clue, but from that chart I can tell you that the H180/H130 are convex, whereas the Oscar H4 is concave - which is why it is so visually striking.
  14. I can tell you that we had a look to see if the Oscar 7" headlight would fit into the standard (S-V-C?) chromed light, and it was too small. I asked the distributer before ordering the complete light if there was any kind of standard for 7" lamp sizes and he seemed pretty unsure. I decided against experimenting as the complete lights were so cheap - and on the car they look like a quality bit of kit compared to the originals - though sadly I'm sure I'm not allowed to drive around in daylight with the branded covers on 😬
  15. Since I've got my Seven, I've been using it as a everyday car car and it's done really well, apart from the fact that the headlights are so bad it is simply dangerous on the roads near work at night. I've tried replacement bulbs, and started to think about a HID system, but with people here queuing up to tell me how illegal HID kits are, I had to look for another solution, and a post by Paul Jackson sent me off to look at the Cibie range. Cibie do a street legal 7” light with a H4 bulb and sidelight that looked like it would go well on a Seven: Cibie Oscar H4 After being egged on by Tomas I bought a set, as it turned out that I could actually buy them for the same price as set of lights from S-V-C. I've had them on the car for two weeks now, and have been blown away. I've come to the opinion that changing bulbs was a waste of time and money, and that the problem with headlights on Caterhams has nothing to do with cable lengths, or voltage drops as has been suggested, but is simply that the standard 7” lights are absolute rubbish! The light output from the Oscar H4 actually puts most modern cars to shame, and driving country lanes on full beam is like going rallying:) I was helped with the fitting by Andy Belcher – oh OK, he fitted them while I watched and made unhelpful comments. We found that that bolt that comes with the Oscar is actually too short to fit on my car, the simple solution was to remove the Cibie harness, and bolt, and then take the hollow bolt from the original light, and fit it and the original cable to the Oscar. It's not a perfect solution as adjustment isn't as easy as it should be, but it does mean that the cable doesn't project out of the back of the lamp as standard on a Cibie which is a big plus. If anyone is interested in going the same route, I had problems finding a dealer with stock, but the distributor gave me a great price, and next day delivery: http://www.laeltd.co.uk/ I'll be at the Parrot tomorrow, so feel free to drag me outside to see them in action 😬
