My 7 has just develeped a strange whine coming from the cam area, 7 is driveable with no signs of being out of sorts.
It's a 1.6 kseries Roadsport in standard tune and you can only hear the whine on tickover but it does increase as throttle is applied.
Hoping POBC can help.

Just spotted you as you came round bend, we were the 2 sevens, yellow and blue. Would have waved but decelerating from mach 3 😬

Strange whine from cam area

Just had a quick look and tried wiggling cambelt cover but it's not that.
Noise is coming from top of cam cover and as Jason said has a grinding quality about it, looks like the cam cover has to come off for further investigation ❗
