Why don't you install the underfloor system and air box for the test? It would pass easily. You could borrow mine for a couple of months if that helps

People are normally surprised by the fact that it doesn't come on the cam aggressively. Above 5, and especially 6, it is on full song, but below that it is still giving good power. The only problem is a hole in the torque curve at 3,000-4,000 rpm. Why do you ask?

Ah. They make whole systems. No one have any ideas on polishers?
-
Sadly autosol doesn't do the same job. It needs a wheel. Where are Hayward and Scott ?
-
Who do people use, and how much does it cost to get exhausts polished?
-
Actually, come to think of it, it was at 3/4 of max, which is 6500 rpm. Yes it can be done, but it does need both the exhaust and induction to be dealt with. It wasnt that expensive and I certainly rook the view that if I wanted to have such a car, it was as well to future proof it for circuit use. I rarely have to pit the quite silencer on the car, but when I do (EG last time at Oulton) I would have been going home if I hadn't had the quiet system in the truck.
Funny to see I was Keith Jecks when this thread started!

With the air box and rear exit, mine was measured at Goodwood at 95 db at 6000 rpm!

It is only the vertical part of the firewall that comes off. It is only connected to the horizontal bit by sealant. Comes off very easily.

I think the standard gaskets are just fine. You need to ensure the engine has the steel locating dowels for the head (the original heads used nylon and it was these that caused many of the early issues) and that the liner heights are correct.

When is coated this conversion, the total added up to 12k. I doubt the price has fallen.

I use 17-18 psi hot. That relates to 13-14 cold on my car

It is a rear wing, by the way. It is from a 2001 model R500. There is no rush, so if you want it I will happily hold it till you next come to the UK. I am near Caterham
-
Pair of black grp wings with chrome protectors. Unpainted. Quite tatty, but fine for painting. NTL contribution required otherwise foc
-
Original carbon near side wing from an R500. Good condition and unpainted. £75.

Quite a while ago I was told that an AX block alone was worth £1000. They are sought after and very rare it seems

I had a similar problem with the map on my R500. Caterham had a number of goes at it, but I eventually went to Steve Greenald who fixed it for me. It was £400, but well worth it. I think mapping is a specialist function, which needs a specialist to do it well.
I am not sure if it is still the case, but in 2001, the engine builders were responsible for the full throttle/ higher revs mapping and Caterham did the low throttle/ low revs mapping. I guess they want to play safe with the start up maps, leading to them running rich when cold.

I recently got one on ebay for about £55 + £10 delivery

Set of Barnby R500 magnesium wheels. Immaculate apart from outside rim on one rear wheel. Very easily changed by any competent DIY mechanic if desired - I ran out of patience waiting for the manufacturer to deliver. £450 the set. Located near Caterham

Just a thought - you don't have an FIA cutout switch do you? They are often the source of this type of problem
-
I took mine to Oxted Trimming, who did a really professional job and made it look like origional fitment. Cant remember what it cost, but it was reasonable IIRC.
-
I think you were first Tre7or. They haven't been used for a while so are not 'sticky', but will soften up nicely when warmed up on a circuit.
-
Sorry - £40. They seem to have about 3mm tread left
