My R400D has always done this - first mile or so after a decent run it's hesitant and snatchy , esepecially on light throttle and frees up in a minute or so and as soon as it gets a bit of welly. Have always put it down to heat soak as to my not technical at all mind it just makes sense.

THe Auto Centre Darlington- Carl is a good guy and Seven friendly. He also charges next to nothing !

It may be only 10 bhp on paper but even allowing for the absolutely feral induction snarl the car feels a lot quicker- and I mean a LOT !.Collected today from Cat Midlands after RBTB fitted and first time I gave it what Troy Queef would term the full beans I couldn't believe the difference. On light throttle- bit smoother , better tickover but once she is breathing hard (ooh err ) she bloody flies. Interesting bangs and pops on over- run- going to be challenging slowing down for horses without scaring the poor things silly She likes a drink too - but not really too much more than with original plenum set up.

God yes. When I first bought winters I put them on front of Golf GTi Mk2. It ovesteered like a MK 2 Escort. But novelty wore off when I lost it under braking after ...ermm..a mile. To paraphrase the bard," I am not the Stig , nor was I meant to be". Tried lots of makes. They all work.

In 35k miles in my old Seven I had the rear wings resprayed twice, and when I sold her they were chipped to hell again. My new car was armourfended and the wings are perfect after 21 k miles. Weight ?? About the same as a couple of cans of coke surely ?

I call them patina.

A TVR350 C , 911 GT3RS. an older 911, a Boxster, two F430 Scuderias, a F458 Italia and a Murcielago Spyder- left in convoy with much gratuitous revvery. Surprisingly they did not stop to admire my Yeti. All sounded quite splendid but the Lambo was ,as the Americans would put it- totally awesome.

Clean quite manky wires, new connectors and heat shrink tubing to stop a reappearance of road grot.

Just a BTT to thank Grim Reaper Dave for doing a brilliant job and sorting out my wires with surgical precision. My technical input was extensive- Dave let me hold the pliers at one point. A very big public thanks.
-
Wires aren't damaged but my AA guy said there was some corrosion and connection poor but reckoned his fix would sort it. It did for about 6 weeks. The second Aa guy confirmed that very cruddy and that connection- spade connector- needed some tlc. Sp with Grim's help it will be replaced as prospect of total engine power shutdown without notice worries me.
-
Hmm- similar but not identical I think.
-
Quoting Grim Reaper:If it's just a replacement of a connector block then no problem. How many wires? I can source a replacement and fit it for you if you like (knowing your dislike of anything resembling maintenance of vehicles) :-)
That'd be great- see you tomorrow.
Myles- no leak visible- but I think 20 k miles of road dirt responsible.

Forgive me if I use the wrong terms.Yet again the Seven let me down-twice in a month.AA sorted- but need permanent fix. Inboard of n/s rear wheel are wires to fuel pump. They have a multi point connector - plastic widget. It is making erratic contact because it is sh*gged . What is it called, is it easy to replace?
-
It is almost certainly the dual mass flywheel- this has happened to my last three VAG turbo diesel cars. Only apparent to begin with when cold and especially when reversing up a slope, gets progressively worse to the extent that even a VW dealer will admit something is wrong...

Remapping is a treat my R400 will get next year. Long way to Essex- anybody as good nearer home anybody ? And naive numpty question- if so much improvement available how come standard mapping not as good - couldn't they perfect the mapping and then instal in each car? Or is each engine/ECU subtly different ? Or am I awash in a sea of ignorance?
-
Not so sure about 'proper'.Have sequential now and single on last car. Which was far more fit for purpose- don't need a blaze of lights telling me I have reached not very high revs - they are called shift lights as they tell you when you have the choice of overevving or changing up.
-
Several competing Sevens; a yellow clamshell car in car park with 'good patina'. And...some favourites- limegreen Miura , silver 275GTB and metallic green De Tomaso Mangusta - one of the most gorgeous cars I have ever seen. And far more impressive than the two Spykers- sounded like NASCAR stockers(good) but looked utterly hideous inside and out. Like something Batman would drive if Batmobile being serviced. Donington a bloody tip- very restricted viewing, acres of earthworks, overflowing toilets etc. Thankfully I was given a free ticket ....

15 years of storing Seven for 3 months and not a problem,Give her a push and start her up.

Armourfend is great. My previous Seven had grievous stone damage recurrently- enough for rear wings to look tatty after 6 months- local roads have lots of loose gravel . 3 years plus and my current armourfended car looks almost new. At least it does on the Armourfend bits. Some..erm..patina elsewhere...

Seven - indeterminate colour heading towards Gt Langton 5ish. First one I've seen since November- including my own. Must be Spring then.

2 Slo- am not aware of any proper road test by mags of R400- but Autocar did a 0-100-0 when if memory serves 60 was 4.4 and 100 in just over 10.Steve Sutcliffe is obviously lighter than me.And a better driver, yes
-
Agree with comments above - 0-60 fascinates us all but you have to be seriously brutal to get best time.My R400 should do 60 in about 4.4 according to Autocar but because I am a fat git and rubbish at getting off the line quickly my best is 5.2 - on the few occasions when I have been timed at a drag strip. And whilst somebody will now come along to tell me their Crossflow , two up does 4.8 I won't lose any sleep. The killer time is 30-70 through gears - some interesting stats here- you think a CSR 260 is quick- it is- 3.1 secs. But a 458 Italia will do it in 2.4 and cripes- a DIESEL Audi A8 only takes 5.4. A Prius takes ..ermm 12 secs and a Defender 2.4D a snappy 17.
