I have a pair of Avon ZZR's (rear fitment) as above. Both have at least 4mm of tread remaining but one has been punctured and properly repaired (in the centre of the tread, not near a sidewall) with a plug. This has been - and is - fine for road use but I have replaced the pair in preparation for some more serious track work.
Essentially, then, good for road use and suplus to requirements. I know that they're hard to get at the moment so I thought I'd start here before putting them on eBay.
Open to sensible offers in the circumstances!

Hi Mark
Sounds good - can you please let me know when you get back?
James

2GBR - many thanks for you offer but I really need them to be road-useable...
Bomber - again, many thanks for your offer. If the tyres are good for road use then I would be interested in taking two of them. Not at Cadwell today (will be in a few weeks!) so I guess this would entail shipping. Before we both spend time on this, coudl you bm me some pictures?
Many thanks

Does anyone have one (or more) Avon ZZR's in size 215/55-13 surpus to requirements?

Does anyone have any used Michelin slicks in size 16/53-13 that are surpus to requirements? Need them to have enough life left for a track day or two...
Thanks

Hi Gareth
If these are still available, I would be interested (along with the ZZR we have discussed!).

Hi Dave
That would be very helpful. I only noticed this on the way over to you on Saturday - no idea why I didn't mention it to you then as you're clearly the man to know the answer!
Thanks again for the cam timing adjustments - great work!

Yes - this is a voyage of discovery; I have also found the control module (which I thought the 'standard unit' didn't have) under the dash but, as reported by others, it is a non-programmable/adjustable version.
I'll see what Aces' technical support guys come back with before I start to look at making new connections back to the ECU.

Hi Gareth
Can you please respond to the Blatmail/PM I sent?
Thanks

Thanks Adrian. The wasted spark conversion was done for me by Rob at Rat Race (100% recommendation for super-quality of work) and he must have made the necessary changes to make the Stack read correctly. I'll give him a call - and I've also mailed Aces' technical support line. to see if they can provide any information.
When I get it sorted I'll post the solution here in case it is ever of use to anyone else.

Thanks for that (and thanks to Jonathan as well, who sent a similar comment) but the standard Caterham Acesunit doesn't (as far as I know) have the separate control moule; it seems to be pre-programmed. Hence my thinking that this will require a tweak to the wiring/connections?

Changed my K-series R400 to wasted spark ignition and now have the Aces shiftlight (the standard R400 Caterham unit) thinking that the engine is operating at half of its actual speed. The green (out of power band) light remains illuminated tlll north of 7,000rpm and I haven't seen any of the ambers, let alone the reds (which would probably require around 15,000 rpm to activate...)
Any ideas on how to correct this? I'm guessing that there must be a signal wire to/from the Aces unit which needs to pick up a true engine speed signal somewhere. If it's relevant the car has the Stack instrument pack in it.

Hi there - I have sent you a PM

Hi Gareth
Sorry if there's any confusion; I thought we'd agreed a deal and that I had also mentioned that I am out of the country this week. I'm back on Friday evening and can get them sent out to you at the weekend if that works for you?
Just a thought: if you were thinking of going to Stoneleigh then I could bring them to that? But otherwise, happy to proceed by post/courier if you are!

Hi Gareth
I have a pair that were removed from my car when it was about a year old; they're all boxed up and, from memory, in very good nick. If you're still interested then make me an offer!

I've posted a general piece in ChitChat but, in summary, I'm looking for a Lifeline quick release boss that I can mount to an additional steering wheel (so I can use different sized steering wheels for road and track use).
Does anyone have a spare one that they'd be willing to sell?

Hi
Are you sorted yet or still looking? I'm in the same position so one option would be for one of us to sell the other a 'good' used tyre, leaving the other with at least some cash towards a new pair...
Let me know if this would work.

Hi - I think I have a couple that might meet your requirement. From memory, easily more than 3mm tread depth. I can check at the weekend if you're still looking by then.

I decided not to think too hard about the engraving and went with my name and the registration number of my car (the two parts separated by a hyphen) - seemed appropriate!
James

Thanks Alex - I've ordered 55.

I'm pretty sure I've got their data sheets printed out at home - will be back there at the weekend and check. I presume it's K R500 data that you're after?

Hi again James
The shoulder straps are pull down, of course, and the lap straps are 'pull down' - that is, the lap strap adjuster is mounted very close to the central buckle and you tighten the lap straps by pulling the loose end away from the centre - so probably in a downwards direction. They were specced as the best way to have them for a Seven and custom made to the 'Caterham cut'.
The crotch straps have the the 't' shape spreader plate that plugs into the central buckle.
I bought them just over a month ago but then changed my plans - so they are effectively brand new, never out of their boxes and all packaged up just as they came - including the protective wrappings over the buckles etc.
Anyway - let me know if these might be right for you and we can take it from there!
James
