  1. I know from personal experience that Colin's advice is spot-on, Graeme.  I sold my sintered plate unit to a Caterham race outfit a couple of years ago.  I think I advertised it on here and on Facebook so I can't be sure where they picked it up from.  Racecarsdirect.com could also be a good avenue to secure a sale if you have no success on here.

Yes - it was described as one of the elephants in the room. The main points covered by Bob were:

    • The number of actual issues are small compared to the number of cars, based on 10s of cars inspected.
    • DVSA investigations complete - no need for any changes to the clevis geometry needed. They are reengineering it.
    • Replacement Clevis will be available. Under Warranty it will be replaced FOC. Outside that it will be offered at a discount if only a few years outside warranty (TBD, but Bob mentioned 4-5 years), beyond that you can buy them to fit yourself.

Simon Lambert's written response in the Q&A facility was somewhat more informative than (and potentially at variance with?) Bob's verbal update and suggested a more fundamental reconsideration.  I quote:

"There has been extensive investigation with the DVSA and we are several design iterations through, which includes changes to the material, to the geometry, revised damper bushing and retainment and a potential change to the wishbone."

That sounds pretty fundamental to me, as someone who has owned three CSRs and still has a minter in the garage, and sort-of contradicts the line that the existing design is perfectly adequate (as in, no need for a compulsory replacement action).

  3. Just moved from red to blue at Stuart's recommendation whilst he was tending to the broken valve springs on my Duratec R500.

But after so many years I was bored of it always being the same colour and wanted a visual under-bonnet freshening anyway. 😅

  4. I'm selling a set of CSR 10-spoke 15" anthracite alloys (staggered and with the unique front offsets) complete with Avon CR500 tyres in old but only part worn form (and therefore likely to be quite hard but good for destroying on road or track before replacing!).

The condition is really very good, as you can see in the photos.

Very rare nowadays and hard to find - I don't think a set has been advertised here for many years now.

Priced at £1250 for the set with shipping available at cost if necessary (but I'm open to meeting-up with a purchaser, so long as distances are reasonable given my location just outside Stratford upon Avon).

  5. Rog - just realised I owe you a call back on this topic.

The Alps will be a fabulous destination for a Club tour - so many different areas to pick with many interesting passes and routes to enjoy.  Perfect for Sevens!

Regrettably I won't be able to join in 2024 but I'd certainly encourage anyone who might be considering this to show their interest to Rog - it'll be a cracking trip!

  6. "Now Now. What did SL R No. 77 say"

    Is that a question?

Whatever Stuart wrote, I think it's clear to everyone who has read or posted in this thread (well, possibly everybody - but with one exception?) who he was directing his comments to.

BlatChat is mostly such a nice, friendly, non-confrontational place these days.  Long may it remain so.

  7. And, for completeness, I now have the car back from Stuart at Premier Power.  Top job carried out (seems to be his way... 😉) and, whilst I know that memory can be unreliable, the car seems to drive better now than at any time previously in my nine years of ownership.

As someone said to me - a tale of unlucky-lucky!
