Try warming it with a hair dryer / quick blat - perhaps not both at the same time though. Don't blame me if the paint comes off though

I tried self-amalgamating tape however once hot and well "booted" it wasn't long before it de-self-amalgamated (approx 2 weeks)
Great fountain as I arrived at the local area meet.
Samco do reducers - see the "tweeks" catologue though Rally designs seem to be cheaper (or is that cost effective)

Would also need a new gearbox / bellhousing as the bolt pattern is not the clasic Ford layout.

I'm interested - do they have headrests?
Do they fit to the floor or the cross tubes?
Would they fit an '86 LC live axle ?
Where are you ?

Hi John
I have looked at my 'box and it doesn't have an all alloy tail case but it does have the sport ratios so maybe Ford changed the spec.

It's 15yr since I last checked / adjusted the tappets on a x-flow and I'm waiting for a Haynes manual to arrive.
Could somebody tell me the order of which one to check when it's corresponding one is fully open
In anticipation

I have noticed that when driving especially when it's cool in the evening a fine spray of "oil" seems to eminate from the carbs (1700 XF with 40DCOE's). This coats the offside wings F&R occasionally the screen and the K&N covers. The performance has not gone off (recent RR no probs), oil consumption has not changed etc. The "Oil" is certainly comming out of the carbs / air filters (doesn't appear to be K&N air filter oil)
The "oil" has a strong smell of petrol
The car is run on ESSO LRP.
The only thing I can think of is blow back from the carbs of additives in the petrol
Any other ideas / possible causes ??

If it's the same as mine (1986 1700 XF) the engine / manifold ends are approx 21mm, heater ends 19mm

Haynes have just published a book on this very subject by Dave Walker therefore has quite a bit about Emerald systems but also explains the basics including tuning carbs.
Not got ISBN with me but I think it's called "Engine Management" good starter
