  1. NEW ELECTRICAL PROBLEM ! I fitted a new ignition switch and connected it up as I was advised ( the terminals were not the same as on my old switch ) I have no ignition light but once the key was turned the starter turned over but some smoke started to appear under the dash ( not sure where it was comming from ) Turned off the master switch and everything seemed OK. removed the ignition switch and wires. WHAT is the correct wiring to the spade terminals on the back of the switch. I have terminals 50. 30. 15 1 white/ red trace wire 1 brown wire 1 brown / blue trace wire 3 white wires ( together )
  2. Hei again, I have found the 'problem' it was a badly corroded terminal on the alternator, this has been cleaned and there is now power to the fuse box. NEW ELECTRICAL PROBLEM ! 3. Thanks again to those that have sent in suggestions and to Steve who kindly sent me a wiring diagram. I will be able to have another go at sorting this problem out when I am home on leave.
  4. Hei, thanks for the replies, The starter and solonoid has been taken off and checked and is working OK, it is securly bolted to the engine and nothing is loose. My problem is no power to the fuse box so I don't have any electrics. The cut out switch is working OK. A lead from the pos+ battery terminal to the spade connector on the solonoid and the starter works OK. New ignition switch fitted, correct wires on the correct terminals.
  5. 1988 ss X-flow. I have electrical problems with my car and cannot find out what may be wrong. The car was running fine until the starter started to 'drag' while turning the engine ( not click )as if there was intermittant power to the starter. I removed the starter, had it checked and its OK Replaced the Ignition switch, tested each fuse, replaced all relays There is no power from the fuse box ! The battery cut out switch is working OK I have cut back and replaced a length of the wire to the start solonoid but it was OK anyway. I have removed the alternater and the wires ( 2 heavy brown and 1 thin black ) are flexible and not burnt. If I run a wire from the pos+ terminal of the battery to the starter solonoid then it will turn the engine over. I am not too sure where the live feed comes from to the fuse box ? Any help or advice would be appreciated
