  5. Peter, I have no drop in performance when driving normally, just on idle and with a backfire on over run, would poor compresion cause this??? Its strange it started happening but only at night, which then makes me think its to do with atmospherics!!???? My problem is I really dont understand that side of the engine, TBs ECU etc.... I need to get this sorted before Aug 11th as I am on club track day at Silverstone! Does anyone know someone over Maidenhead way that is good with this side of the engine???   6. Hi All I have a 1.6 running throttle boddies, Luminition Competition management system, bigger valves 4 2 1 exhaust. Car has been running well, but on a couple of late night outings has been misfinring and backfiring, sending out a large flash. Also noticed that when running like this, when I blip throttle on change down it starts to stall. It now will not run on tickover at all...... have checked plugs as a first point of call as had this once before onanother car when the plugs were loose. They are fine. Now in my very basic tech knowledge, I think this indicates air getting in somewhere, but I could be wrong. So could anyone with better knowledge than me and experience in these things please point me in the right direct... Ex 1.6 SS, now 186bhp!!, it flies
  7. Roger Dont want to be the bringer of doom, but your symptoms are exactly the same as mine over a year ago. My head went porous, it s a 1.6ss with a big valve ported head so there was miniomal metal left. What you dont say is what engine and what spec you have. I ended up replacing head!!! I have also had a microscopic leak from a head before where water from the water jacket was escaping into the cylinder and then being evaporated on compression..... I used Ratrace to repair it and give advice and could not recommend them highly enough Good luck - I can totally sympathise with your frustration Gary Ex 1.6 SS, now 186bhp!!, it flies

  12. Chris We tried most of those!!!! And it did 1 lap fine until he got used to the fgact that even in the wet with 32rs he could really drive it, then as the car came on song - the red flag on the noise computer came up!!!! So its the box for me! Gary Ex 1.6 SS, now 186bhp!!, it flies
  13. Mark thanks for this Have you experienced it, does it make the car quieter?? I have Jenvey TB's, does this conversion work on them, it looks good, looks like it might be quieter....   14. Hi all I run a tweaked 1.6ss, with throttle boddies etc....... I have just had car noise tested at Bedford Autodrome and on a drive by failed with 88/89 dbs.... only when passing the sensors on the induction side, the static exhaust was 97dbs well within the limit! I have the standard bonnet (no hole for induction) and therefore run with the sock type filters (Piper Cross) on each trumpet..... 🤔 How can I bring down this noise level, has anyone else encountered this problem (silly question!!) would an air box or similar work,? and if so where could I get it and any advice on what might be needed to fit it Many thanks Ex 1.6 SS, now 186bhp!!, it flies

  16. Hi All Can anyone help/advise/point me in the right direction............ I am looking to replace my crazed cycles and also want to have them lower to the wheel. I currently run 14" wheels with 185/65 032rs. I have seen many cars with cycles that hug the wheels much better than mine and wondered what stays and where to get them from.... I will be bonding the wing so do not need any bolt clearance. Your help appreciated Ex 1.6 SS, now 186bhp!!, it flies

  18. Hi guys Well this crosflow has the de Dion rear so the Ital axle is not the issue, however its what is a good value upgrade. The enginne has only done 10,000 miles and therefore is in good order. It would therefore make sense IMHO to retain this and upgrade to a sensible level BUT, who is best equiped to do this now that Roger has retired and who is best to get advice on different bhp vs. cost options?   20. Hi all... I currently run a very tweaked 1.6 SS BUT a friend of mine now has a crossflow that lacks the horses!!!! So the question is who best to go to?.. it needs the following Uplift of BHP -currently 110 ish... Suspension very floppy - needs sorting Rear exit exhaust system....   23. Matt Yes I have photo's there are at home on PC, I could mail them to you later tonight. I am lucky as mine is a 97, self build car that does not require a Cat - which is just as well as my management system is a luminition competition system and does not support a Cat!!! As to track test, I have yet to do that, in fact my induction is now much noisier than the exhaust as I run on throttle boddies with ram pipes and sock filters. I am about to have my management system matched up to the exhaust and cylinder head work I have had done so have not booked any trackdays yet as I want its full potential to do that Gary Tweaked 1.6kSupersport
  24. Matt I have the Powerspeed system and I am very pleased with it, Dave from PS fitted it on the car, making it whilst I waited to ensure that it was a perfect fit... The finish is good also, which I know on the originals was not the case, but they have improved the method of welding and I have had several Cat owners ask me where it came from as it looked good. You do not mention age of your 7, I do not have/need a Cat on my vehicle - did you make yours or was it factory??? Gary Tweaked 1.6kSupersport
