  1. Thanks all for the comments last week. She managed Scotland OK, only failure was the usual 'A' frame bush which I had a replacement for, but I didn't have the bottle to go fast with the twitchyness..... so I went slow 😳 Amazingly, despite the changes, it had exactly the same limiting factor, VERY nervous on fast 'n bumpy stuff, but I was getting used to it. Then on the way home I swapped into a lovely Superlight (Cheers Peter ) which reminded me how limiting tmy instability is, so I'm going to look for bumpsteer tonight, any tips 🤔 Mark Look it's Mavis here and Jubilee 7 here
  2. This works on mine... here It's simple (even I can make one). Cheap (£6 at B&Q for the ally sheet). And effective (enough cool air, availible at atmosheric or more pressure). Who cares what it looks like 😳 Mark Look it's Mavis here and Jubilee 7 here
  3. Cheers for the help folks As I'm setting off tomorrow I've tried to make little fettles to see If there's a noticable improvement. I've done one turn on each track rod, to try some toe-in, and two extra turns on the drivers side rear to get nearer a flat floor. Plus two extra turns at both rear, to make the back (just in front of the mudguard) 10mm higher than the front ( at the point where the sharp edge at the bottom stops). So we'll see 🤔 Thanks again, must get packing tools and waterproofs Mark Look it's Mavis here and Jubilee 7 here
  4. Which isn't an order of magnitude away from Darren's 5mm at the wheel for 1 degree, so that's a good sign. Matt, You're right that I *should* seek proffessional advice, but I'm too stubborn 😳 I've got this far using a big hammer and the knowledge here (and all the bits of the se7ens list and BEC list), so I feel like I need to understand the last little bit, and play with it myself, rather than pay to have it done. Plus I'm really skint 😳 The other problem is that I'm setting off on Tour tomorrow, two-up round Scotland with Tour7, so only home adjustments are really feasible at this stage. It's only done a couple of hundred miles and one trackday since a total rebuild, so there's deffo plentry of fine tuning to be done, but the high front ride seems quite visually noticable. And no... 5. Errr... If: When viewed from above... d= distance from hub centre forward to track rod end centre t= distance track rod has to be 'shortened' to give toe-in a= angle of toe in (per wheel) Then isn't Tan a = t/d and hence t = d(Tan a) so t = 151mm x (Tan 0.25) so t= 151mm x 4.36 x 10 to the power of minus 3 so t = 0.6588mm So I shorten each trackrod by 0.7mm 🤔 Which would prolly be about 2mm at the wheel radius? 6. Cheers Graham I think my front is higher than the back, even with the front spring's adjusters wound back until the spring is almost rattling when chassis is supported So maybe I need to get some preload on the rear? It will understeer on slow corners but not really badly... More worrying is the high speed nervousness and the early front n/s brake lock-up, which both could be down to the car sitting nose-high Mark Look it's Mavis here and Jubilee 7 here
  7. Darren, Cheers, So that's two votes for 'Slight' toe in... OK it's worth a try. Any guesses on how many mm difference between front and back of tyre to go for? Or turns of the track-rod adjuster? Mark Look it's Mavis here and Jubilee 7 here
  8. Hi Myles, I've set, and then checked with a clever machine thing, the toe to parrallel. Mainly because most people said this worked, but also becuase I kept getting differing opinions on which setting gave the most stability Mark Look it's Mavis here and Jubilee 7 here

  10. My (Blade)set up is a PiperX filter and backplate (Cut to shape backplate was availible from westfield at same cost as blank from Piper X, so I have a dubiuosly branded filter 😳 ) With a relatively hideous (but effective and cheap) Aluminium scoop above it, made in one evening from a £6 sheet of 18" square 20 guage ish ally from B&Q. It's cheap, simple, the air is not below atmospheric pressure and it's cool. It weighs very little and it can't go wrong (apart from the logo on the airfilter of course). I'll do a picture in a mo... 11. Firstly... thanks to all at the York L7C last night for picking Mavis up, so I could adjust the preload And secondly... Why is Mavis so unstable at higher speeds and bumpy roads. Spec: Old live axle car, reskinned and rebuilt at Arch, all staight and true. Fireblade engine = about 100kg less on front wheels Freestyle AVOs on softest (front) and 80% soft (rear) New A21r Yokos, 185 x 13" 70 series at 17 psi rear (I'm fat!) and 12 psi front Not yet flat floored The front ride heght seems about 1/2" higher tthan the rear. Which *looks* wrong The front wishones are higher at the chassis than the upright, which *looks* wrong Is my front ride height too high? Would this make it "Nervous" So I'd appreciate any comments on what makes a 7 stable / unstable. Cheers Mark Look it's Mavis here and Jubilee 7 here
