  1. Sorry Ed, I can see - South Yorks. You could send a courier to pick up from my work. I will PM you with details. Dom
  2. Yes, my car is L7RSS - had it since '97. Ed, where are you?
  3. OK, Now £5 - nobody tempted? Seems a crime to throw it away!
  4. My car was a Caterham press car in its early life and featured in magazines and books, Uniquely, it was fitted with a SONY HiFi as follows Control unit on dash with remote control velcroed to side of car. Amp bolted behind passenger seat on bulkhead CD multi-changer and sub woofer mounted in boot. Midrange speakers under knees, on rear bulkhead and tweeters on each side of dash. When I rebuilt the car some years ago, I put in the mid range speakers in the rear bulkhead and the tweeters on the dash. I am never going to put the system back in - and have finally admitted this to myself. So, if anyone wants the rest of the system, to include the full loom, control panel, amp, CD changer and woofer and wants to take it on, let me know. Collection only - £50 - let me know Dominic
  5. I have inherited a set of Classic Car magazine, bound in blue volumes, from issue 1 (Oct 73) complete right up until the early '90s. The last few years being loose copies. Free to anyone who wants to collect from near Salisbury plus a donation to NtL. I have made a similar offer elsewhere, so first come first served. Dominic
  6. A long shot. but you never know. Sale of petrol head Grandmothers' house near Evesham - 4 beds, 3 garages, large garden, rural edge of village location. Has housed vintage exotics but would equally well suit a brace of 7s with a garage to spare. Link to Prime Location Entry (with price) here!
  7. Thanks Tom - fingers crossed there may be one available locally - will give you a shout if it gets desparate - thanks
  8. Its been a while since I posted, but I have finally got round to doing the well trodden path of 1400SS to 1800SS conversion. Only trouble is I managed to dump the old 1400 block without keeping the original alternator mounting bracket. The newer style 1800 bracket I have been given won't fit the original alternator. I don't want to have to change the alternator and all that might entail, so here's hoping.. ... anyone got one of these?? Dom
  9. Paul, I guess I could package them up, but have no idea of how much they would cost to post. I will investigate this if you are keen, but as the disks from CC are not exactly expensive, I am not sure how much money you would be saving. Your call Dominic
  10. Left over from my rebuild, I have a pair of new unused solid front disks as supplied by Caterham. They are mounted on old style front hubs. For some reason, I just couldn't mount them on the old hubs and get rid of excessive runout. In the end I lost patience and swapped them for new style hubs and for some reason bought two more disks. They have been kicking around the garage for a year or so and before they go to the dump, thought they might be useful to somebody. Free to anyone who can be bothered to collect them from near Salisbury. Dominic 1400 SS 6spd LSD, Maserati 4200 CambioCorsa
  11. I am now deeply paranoid ☹️ ☹️ I am going to replace the one that failed with a new one (the thread has been wiped out in any case) and will redo all the others with lots of locktight and bench vice busting torque! Be warned, I think this could have resulted in a bad accident if it happened at the wrong time and in the wrong way. Dominic 1400 SS 6spd LSD back on the road at last!
  12. I thought I had used loctite as I am pretty religious with the stuff. Looking at it now, I cant see any tell tail blue, so it looks like I didn't. That said, I just don't understand what could cause the thread to unwind quite a few turns. What would make the piston turn?
  13. Just had a bit of a shock - pun intended. I have recently added adjustable platforms to by original but seemingly OK bilsteins. All nicely setup and flat floored thanks to a local friend with corner weights. Off I go to halfords this morning to get a part for a kids bike and when I get back I notice the fron n/s shock piston has detached from the eye at the top leaving the mess you can see in these pictures. http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/63037758 I unthreaded the top eyes carefully before rebuilding each corner, using a wrapped round piece of ali sheet to get a good, non damaging grip on the shock itself. I thought I had done them up just as tightly, but I guess not Has anyone seen this before? I can't see why the piston itself should rotate relative to the top eye and undo like this. I am now totally paranoid and am thinking dark thoughts about the other 3 corners doing the same, possibly ending me up in a hedge or far worse! Dominic 1400 SS 6spd LSD back on the road at last!
  14. I would if I could, but mine is a '92 car ☹️ besides I have them in bits now and am very slightly smug that I have got this far without messing it up 1400 SS 6spd LSD back on the road at last!
