  1. Zetec - Thanks, it is a great area. Portmeirion, Evo Triangle & Conwy Falls Cafe are also close by. Only managed to move here late in life though.
  2. Hope you get the misfire/non-start fixed without too much hassle.
  3. Green/Yellow. Yesterday (Saturday - 26/7/14) @ 14:30 in Menai Bridge High Street heading east. We were in one of the shops.
  4. I also have found Classic Silicone Hoses easy to communicate with and very helpful. They recently manufactured a complete set of hoses for my HPC 2.0 VXE 16v (45s & heater) using my original hoses as patterns (with some modifications to make the layout neater). All the hoses fitted perfectly with no leaks whatsoever. *thumbup*
  5. Guy Spark plugs are NGK (BCR 8ES) I will buy a new set and re-route the crank sensor cable. I only have the four HT leads running to the Bosch box - which is the "king" lead? Thanks David
  6. Andy & Kevin - many thanks for replies. I have "Beru" leads at the moment which I will replace - which are the best make replacements & do you have the part number? Does the crank sensor lead go into the LHS of the block (just below the alternator)? If so then it is routed under the spark plug cover - is it best to re-route it or would new leads stop any interference? Forgive my ignorance but how do I know whether I have a single or twin coil pack & where would I find them? The four "Beru" HT leads plug into a square black plastic box with a yellow "Bosch" sticker under it (is this the "dizzyless" distibutor?). Thanks for your help David
  7. Don't know if it is relevant but the car has an MBE 967E fitted by previous owner.
  8. VXE 2.0 litre 16 valve HPC on 45s. Intermittent misfiring on number one (? the one at the front of the engine) plug. This problem first occured about 150 miles ago when I went to collect the car from the garage who had just serviced it. They "rectified" it by fitting new carb mounting plates, rubbers & clips. The misfire happened again yesterday - I identified that number one plug was not firing at all (the exhaust manifold for that cylinder was cold). Today I cleaned all the plugs (none were particularly dirty) and swapped numbers one and two around. I started the engine and it was firing on all four with no missfire and still none after a short blat. All would seem to be OK but something must have been causing the problem and I am concerned it may return. Does anyone have any ideas what might be the likely cause? Many thanks. David.
  9. SMT and Steve, Thanks for your advice - should be an easy job then as I was not looking forward to wiring up the extra relay. I will only use my horn for short periods and open the garage door ❗ Cheers
  10. I am replacing the old horns on my 1997 VX with a pair of "Ring" horns (from Halfords). The new Ring horns come with a separate relay. I think, from the wiring diagram, that my old horns already have a relay. So do I need to fit the Ring supplied relay or is it ok to just replace the old horns with the new ones? Many thanks. David.
