The part number of the race one on the caterham parts website is 30V060A. Any good? looking for £30 + postage if needed. Im J3 of M3, near Bagshot/Camberley cheers Jon

  9. Hi Guys, Very interesting Chris, Simpsons are suggesting a 6" can only about 18" long, i was concerned that it wouldn't be long enough to get the sound down, maybe them suggesting it goes in straight helps with that, i also think its to do with the end caps they use and the fact that they only come with holes in the middle! At present, the last time i had a noise tested at Snetterton, it only just passed at 104db from memory, i think all the stuffing has gone:( I'm off to Castle Combe in may and they have 100db limit, so i need to get it sorted. Mankee, the problem with the caterham ones are they are not repackable, so will be in the same situation in a year or two, i really wanted a repackable one made for that reason. At 360 quid for the caterham one its not much more to have one made. cheers Jon
  10. Hi all, Can anyone enlighten me, at the mo i have a Caterham SLR 4-2-1 system on my 210HP K and the 6" silencer is getting too noisy. I have a couple of questions.. 1) its is better to have the entry into the silencer in the middle of the can for gas flow and quietness, as opposed to going in at an angle and offset from centre, like some of the Raceco ones do when they are fitted to standard caterham collectors. 2) is a longer 6" can quieter than a shorter 7" can? I've been looking to get a new silencer and i've been getting different opinions on the above. I know Raceco do a very nice 7.25" with offset entry to mate up with my caterham slr 4-2-1 collector, however a local place called Simpsons Exhausts (I thought i would see what others could do) say you must go in at the centre of the can for quietness and gas flow, thereby making the can much shorter because there isn't the length along the car. cheers Jon
  11. Sorted, many thanks to Boris
  12. Hi Boris, YHM Cheers Jon
  13. Hi all, Thought I would give them a try on my 15 wheels but didn't want to buy brand new ones yet if I can help it, so I'm looking for 4 part worn 195/45x15's that have a bit of life in them. I don't want any down to the wear bars or with cracked sidewalls Surrey/Berkshire area would be ideal. Blatmail me with your what you have and your details and ill call you back. Cheers Jon
  14. Hi Simon, Here is what Camskill said in their email. "TOYO UK are no longer supplying R888 for retail sale in the UK, They are just supplying them for track events in the UK. Once we run out we cant get any more." So in answer to your question, dont know, they have already run out of 15" sizes, so if anyone needs some 13" might be worth getting some. cheers Jon
  15. Just had a reply from Camskill, apparently Toyo are withdrawing the R888 from retail sale in the uk, it will only be available for certain race series, once they run out they will have no more. A48' s are £700!!! For 5 even with their discount, so it looks like CR500:) Cheers Jon
  16. Hi all, I'm sure it's a well worn question and I've searched through the archives but I thought I would see what the current views are. I just got my 15" Caterham wheels back from powder coat and its time to get some new tyres, the choices I came up with are the CR500 in 195/45x15 or either Yoko 48's or Toyo R888 in 195/50x15? I appreciate the Cr500's will lower the gearing a bit compared to the other two, I've got a 6 speed with a 3.62 diff, but on the upside they are a bit lighter. Have they sorted out the sidewall cracking issue on the CR500? Cheers Jon Edited by - Jp7 on 12 Feb 2013 20:35:26
  17. Hi all, Merry Christmas, just sitting here avoiding Eastenders and contemplating my exhaust can. Its a VHPD 6" caterham job and its seen better days. Is there any way i can grind the ends off to get new packing inside and then make it into a removable end cap? Has anyone done this already? cheers Jon Edited by - jp7 on 25 Dec 2012 20:00:29
  18. Hi all, It is with deep regret that i must inform you all that this is going nowhere. Britax having checked stock levels etc etc, now say they need an order for 500 lenses is to get the thing into production, thats just too many for us. They say its an old part and its only Caterham's that use it. The only way around it is to split existing red/amber and clear/clear lenses and make up the red/clear. I have tried and smashed the reflector in the process, this can be ordered through a distributor, although i haven't tried to order one as yet. Thanks to everyone for sticking their names in. regards Jon Edited by - jp7 on 13 Oct 2012 10:27:23
