  1. Dave,

Thank you and for the pm. Much appreciated.

A ford dealer suggested it would be an M12 45mm although the one in the image Caterham shows for the fixed cam looks longer?

Caterham shows one for the VVT, it is longer again with what looks like a washer and not threaded to the top,  it wont be that then.

So the one I require will be fully threaded but could it be 45mm or longer?

Once I start the strip down I'd rather get it back together in one go so checking what I have then ordering will be a delay.

I should be able to get a bolt once sure.

  2. Better not to apply anything over rust on a painted panel. Take the affected area back to clean metal while not damaging more paint than required. Make sure there is no rust creep under the local area.

Clean with panel wipe or a dab of paint thinners.

Then apply etch primer, then 30min to an hour later the touch up. A few thin layers to build it back to level.

  3. It does not appear the original question had any real feedback. Has anyone direct experience of the wavetrac fitted to a Seven?

They are in theory an attractive road biased middle ground but in practice?

  4. The fault was with the short loom. Cut open and the resistor leg had corroded off.  And this on a car with 2 miles on the clock and 9 years in a carcoon.

So a rubber plug one end, an open U bend the other. Right next to a hot engine the perfect moisture trap.

Resistor was 220ohms. Cleaned up, resoldered, new resistor and heat shrink fitted but now sealed at both ends.

Pressure reading now on start up, just over 4 and rises when blipped.

Thank you for the advice and links above. Would never have guessed they had fitted those in that location.

  5. Hello,

I have a (new build by other person) 2012 Sigma engined roadsport I am debugging.

The oil pressure gauge is not moving (very slight movement at ignition switch on).

Tried unplugging/replugging the round rubber connector that attaches the sensor fly lead into the car wiring.

Tried pulling and refitting the plug into the back of the gauge.

Is there a reading I can check with a meter?

    Thanks Rob

  6. Thank you all

Nick, yes the workshop with an eta of 6 weeks took 4 months to arrive but is now in place. Just the wiring etc now for me to install then I can move stuff out of my garage.

Its been the slowest project I have ever started : )

Richard, we not far away then.

Hopefully the right car wont be too far away either.

    Rob

  7. Hi Stu,

    Thank you

I am in north Staffordshire. Just around the corner from Nick Chan as it happens.

I have been looking for a while but due to a delay with creating the extra storage space required (and rubbish weather) I have not made any firm efforts until today.

Chaps are outside now in the snow assembling my workshop which will free up more garage space for the extra car. : )

  8. Hello all,

I am a new member looking for a car.

Ideally a nice crossflow but will also consider others if a bit special.

Traditional colour , red, green, black, silver etc.  bright pack preferred.

Mainly to be a fun road car and occasional events but items like a LSD etc I would add if not fitted.

Not looking for a heavily track focused car or yellow/orange etc. Preference is a more classic look.

I will be visiting a few of the usual dealers soon but thought I'd check with club members first in case anyone has been thinking of a change.

Budget is flexible for the right car.

    Thanks Rob
