Ian, I took your advice and took delivery today. Had a brief play with it tonight when I got home and I can see distinct possibilities. Any specific advice in fitting would be gratefully accepted. For example, do you fasten if down with anything? Cable ties, Velcro, bungees?

I was using the half hood without excluder. I can't speak to the wind direction but I was moving along pretty swiftly in order to get to my destination as quickly as possible. I was soaked and the car interior is still drying out! I have now fitted the excluder, but it sits way too far forward away from the rear bulkhead to be effective (I think). I suspect fabricating my own to fit on the inside of the roll bar could be the answer.

I have a Soft Bits half hood and draught excluder rescued from a previous car, a 2005 K Series SV. The hood fits perfectly on my new (to me) CSR but the draught excluder does not. Having driven through heavy rain last weekend in which the inside of the car, and I, got soaked, does anyone have any ideas on a workaround, or do I go back to Soft Bits? The mesh fits fine if I remove the lower section, but that leaves the flaps hanging to which the lower section Velcros to but I have yet to try this on the road.

Correct.

An upgrade from my 1800 K Series to a CSR means I have the following parts for sale:
- A brand new Caterham Cars SV nose cone, yellow, delivered by Caterham to Kendricks in Llangollen following a no claim accident but never fitted. I had to cut open the box to take the pictures. The nosecone is still in its plastic wrapping. It seemed a shame to disturb it! No fittings or badge. £250
- Four Scudo Stunner tyres, 195/45 X 15, all still legal, two slightly better than the other two. £50
- 1800cc K Series clutch cable. Never fitted £25 SOLD
- 1800cc K Seres throttle cable. Never fitted £20 SOLD
- Secondhand black 5 3/4-inch, RH headlight assembly with cables. Perfect condition £100

I'm afraid I cannot recall. I purchased it at Stoneleigh when a Banner battery packed up. The car it was on is now sold. Sorry.
-
Apologies, I missed that. I fitted gel to my last car. I’ll probably go that way again, thanks for your help.
-
I’m grateful for the advice, but what are the other main options? Gel and lithium?
-
Agreed. I mention the CSR only because that’s what I need the battery for. The one fitted (by a previous owner) doesn’t actually fit the battery tray properly and I’ll probably just get a Banner, but I’m always open to suggestions of something better.
-
Correct Jonathan. My handbook gives the warning in two separate places, but I agree you are probably right about dumb chargers. My conditioner came from Aldi (!) but have never experienced any problem with my previous Caterhams. I did search the library but gave up after looking through five or six pages of results (including the one about the DAB radio that works on the mains but not on battery).
-
i was simply going to ask for recommendations for a replacement 12v battery for my 2007 CSR. Then I read the owner handbook. To paraphrase, it says the battery must be removed before charging as failure to do so “may seriously damage the electrical system”. Really? So what about plugging the trickle charger/battery conditioner into the cigarette lighter? So two questions to those who know: what battery, please, and is the cig lighter system safe to use (because I plug in every time I put the car away)?
-
Nothing to do with me. I bought a car from a private owner who kept it in storage at Hampshire Classics and they told me about this Supersprint at the time. It is from a deceased estate. I know nothing more than that.
