In 13" size there are only 175-50-13, 185/60-13, 205/60 and 235/45-13 available. With 8" wide rear wheels and 250bhp+, 235/45-13 is the only size that is certified for the rim width and will give the required traction out of full throttle corners. 185/60-13 on 6" wide front wheels is the widest size to fit under the standard wings and stays and is closest in diameter to the 235/45-13 rears.

For track use, it is a good combination. I'm now on my 3rd set of them.

Thanks for response. Understand. I had been thinking about going with the 175/45 front and 235/45 rear - arguably so i didnt have to mess with my ride heights to counter the rake change from the Avon set up and i havent enjoyed the higher 60 profile on the toyo i inherited on my second set of wheels. appreciate your feedback with the way you have gone and good to hear they go well on track.

The AR-1s have quite a bit more grip in the dry than the R888s and from the tests I have seen, the R888Rs too. They work very well on track days on my car, I’m running the 185/60-13 AR-1s on the front 6” wheels and 235/45-13 on the rear 8” wheels. The 205/60-13 should be fine on the rear 6” wheels. If you drive a lot in the wet, they aren’t the best choice.

Interesting choice. With Nankang there’s option to run the 45 profile fronts to match the rears or 60 profile rears to match the fronts…why mix? Cheers

All pretty normal noises you hear about on the forums and nothing usually to fear.

The rear knock over bumps I used to have... and was an easy fix with replacing the nylon washers on the rear A frame.. You may find replacing that rear bush with a poly bush is a worthwhile investment rather than changing the washers every 5 minutes. I got a powerflex one and was a simple enough swap and not had the noise come back.

If you are LSD then the rest of the noises are not unusual. all sound amplified in these cars (compared to morgan) as the drivetrain is solid mounted to the chasis.

You using yours for road or track - are you happy with the nankang setup? I am looking for option to move on from Avon and I'm not overly impressed with the high profiles on the 888R

what camber & toe do you run?

trust realised you were 2 posts - reading your link now

Road tyres as can't be faffed with slicks

currently have 2 sets of wheels. staggered 13's. have 888Rs on one set and ZZS on the other. Looking for next option to replace the ZZS soon for obvious reasons.

have lots of experience in M3 setup but new to the Caterham fraternity, so advice from any track day enthusiast welcomed.

I just want a good track setup for any track legal road tyre.

on ride height....if I go too low does it mess up the caster?? Is there an optimum height to try?

standard 2016 springs and bilstein shocks. Spring rates unknown to me.

    thanks

what do the the Caterham race series run? Anyone involved Willing to share.

    thanks in advance

  6. Hi all

i have a 420r mainly for track use, looking for pointers on the setup please

    ride height, camber and toe.

    not worried about road handling

    thanks

  7. My shiftlight was loose in the dash so i removed - taped and popped back in - now not working - should have just left it!!

i note some people have more than just one LED more of a bar with multiple leds - is this an easy swap over? seems like an obvious time to upgrade

  8. Hi

I'm considering a larger steering wheel for my 420 to replace my standard 260mm momo

is anyone local (Sussex/Surrey) running a 280 or larger for me to sit in and check leg room before I buy.

also looking at spacer to bring wheel closer - has anyone done this - what spacer did you use

    thanks

  10. I just got a set of wheels last week with 888R 185/60 on the front and 205/60 on the rear. Car sits about 1.2 cm higher off the ground, sounds small - but it is visible.

front wheels bit tight to get in under the front wing stays but once on clearance is fine.

im running a back to back test at goodwood next friday between the 888R and avon ZZS (185/55 and 215/55) so happy to feedback after that.

  11. Thanks for the help.

that coloured diagram is what i found but my fuse board has different Amp fuses in some. all a bit odd. perhaps just had the wrong fuses in.if anyone is willing to add a picture of their fuse board that would be helpful for me to sort

thanks again - everyone here always so helpful

  12. Hi

Can anyone please assist me with fuse order on my 2016 420r

There's 18 fuses vertically under passenger  side of the dash

But I have no diagram to know what each fuse is for or what A fuse is supposed to be in each.

    Thanks in advance

  14. Hi All

pretty new to C7 life - but enjoying it thoroughly even with all the issues ive ironed out on the car in the last 6 months....next - hopefully minor item is the central a frame joint a the rear i noted the poly disc/washers either side of the central joint seem to have worn through, are these an essential part, and if they are warn does it mean the bush is worn too? I presume the little poly washers can be picked up form caterham? anyone replaced these before and know what cause could be? Easy job but just checking no underlying bigger issue/job to do at same time. cheers

  15. Can you buy a crate 420r spec engine from caterham - nothing listed on site.

if not what's a good replacement engine?

look forward to hearing different views on this.
