  1. The £150 for the pair is without the electroplated finish. Car is only for track so not too concerned about the finish (gold would look nice though). Th ebig downside is 15 day turnaround.

I'll check on the Rimmer calipers to see if they are original.

    Thanks,

  2.  Evening all,

thought I would try and replace my front brake pads and found myself with some bother.

I couldn't get one of the pistons to go back in and upon removal of the caliper, I can see that the piston is rusty.

Can I send this off for refurbishment or is it better to buy a new one? In either case, where should I try?

I've read about the caliper refurb kits that can be had from places like Redline etc but I've never done one before and would worry that the condition of the caliper would mean that this might not be successful.

    Advice appreciated,

    John

  3. Amos,

Thank you for the reply. I've been away (from home and all things car related) for a few weeks. I think I've located it, it just looks different to the one that I had ordered (two wires rather than one). I'll get testing and see what happens.

    Many thanks for your reply.

  4. Thanks for all the help so far.

I used the guide to see where the water temp sensor should go but my 7 doesn't have a heater so seems not to have the pipe that is shown. Hmmm.

The gauge wiring does follow the wiring colours but I can't find the wiring in the engine bay. Any ideas?

I've ordered the multimeter for future shenanigans.

  5. Many thanks for the swift reply Jonathan.

I'll do as you suggest and see how the gauge reacts.

No, I do not own a multimeter. I can borrow/purchase one but I'll have to do a bit of learning as I don't really understand a lot (if anything) about how it functions.

  6. Hello all,

First, big thank you to the club already for making me feel welcome. I'm a new member and look forward to becoming involved in the club.

I've come to ask for some know how on fitting gauges.

I have a sigma engined caterham that I bought from someone who used it to race with the graduates in the sigmax class.

It has a water temp gauge which, until recently, was working well. Recent track day and it would just show top of the gauge. Have been advised to try replacing sensor but I don't know where the gauge takes the signal from. It is a standard caterham gauge.

The other gauge I'm trying to sort out is a mechanical oil pressure and temp from racetech. It comes with the sensor for the temp and a capillary tube for the oil pressure.

Does the temp just replace the sump plug or do I need to find a sump plug that will allow it to pass through into the sump?

Where does the oil capillary tube go? It seems as though I need an additional fitting but I don't know what it is or where it would go. Any help is greatly appreciated. I've searched a fair bit but haven't found quite what I'm looking for.

Many thanks for any help or pointing me in the right direction.
