  1. Thank you all and yes my knowledge is very limited as you can gather! I can do basics, change brake pads, oil change and other basics but that's as far as it goes at the moment! Only had the car since March and since my mobile phone has hidden this gauge most of my driving time, just thought i'd check it out in case and appreciate all your responses, i shall continue to learn as I spend more time with my awesome Caterham 7 and apologies if I didn't explain clearly to start with
  2. Here's a video of what's happening, when i engage the clutch you can see the pressure drop and then goes back up when in gear, normal? https://vimeo.com/861896635?share=copy Thanks for all your help I really do appreciate it
  3. Callum from Turn 7 got back to me so take it, it's not an issue?! "When you depress the clutch the engine revs reduce to idle speed. When you engage a new gear the revs will pick back up again. The oil pressure rises and falls with the rotational speed of the engine. Always here If you need us"
  4. Ah ok! My mistake, it is a mechanical gauge do you think it could be a faulty gauge? Took her out last night and it only drops when the engine warms up, the rev counter also went a little crazy on one occasion when it dropped! So strange!
  5. It is strange! The oil was a bit low so have topped it back up to max to see if that makes any difference, could it be a faulty sender or oil gauge you think? Trying to see what the best way forward is without having to consider engine out job!
  6. No, there's no warning light at all on the dash!
  7. No the engine speed doesn't drop and its a mechanical pressure gauge.
  8. Just noticed that my oil pressure drops to almost the red line when I press the clutch down, is this normal? I usually have my mobile phone covering the gauge so not noticed this before! Otherwise she goes straight back up to the middle once in gear. Just thought I'd check in case there's a problem I need to look into! The Caterham is a Sigma 1.6 125, thanks in advance
  9. Would have thought they would have gone for a solid piece of black plastic rather than painted! Think it's was petrol that did this to mine too! Will look at the rattle cam option for now! Thanks for the replies, appreciate
  10. Anyone know where I can obtain these without paying over £10 a piece!?! Mine have started to turn colour already after only a couple of months use! https://caterhamparts.co.uk/fittings/7600-cover-fog-and-reverse.html
  11. Update - Have ordered a new master cylinder, will fit this week, have also topped ip the gear oil last night, when i opened her up she was low and have filled her up, she took 325ml to get it filled! Will drive her today and let you know how I get on, hopefully its the fact that she was so low in gear oil that was the issue! Will also bleed the line increase tonight
  12. Inside the cylinder looks fine
  13. Found this underneath the rubber cap on the clutch master cylinder, the residue is rock solid, is that normal?! What is it?! Thanks
  14. As an update I f ound this underneath the rubber seal on the master cylinder, the residue is rock solid, has it perished or is that normal?!
  15. Its a Sigma 1.6 125 2011
  16. Thanks so much John, will check this out and get back to you, a guide would be super useful, my email is rhysmann1@hotmail.com thanks
  17. Would this method work if i got one of the bleeding kits below and followed the video you think? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mityvac-MV8000-Test-kit/dp/B00265M9SS/ref=asc_df_B00265M9SS/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310577373001&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9838398142550697009&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9180833&hvtargid=pla-316724733774&psc=1&th=1&psc=1
  18. Willing to give it a go, any guides on how to do it? is it a straight forward job? Thanks again for all your support
  19. As a quick update, there doesn't seem to be any more fluid underneath the car after wiping off and driving out for a few miles, I have noticed that when she won't go into gear that the clutch has dropped down a bit, opened up the pedal box and couldn't see anything out of the ordinary there?! any ideas?
  20. Thanks John and no problem, will get a video done over the early next week as i won't have access to a ramp until then.
