  1. I have done track days and blatting on ZZR`s this year. On track 17 psi cold and 22 hot. Compared to what I normally use ( Toyo r888 ) the ZZR`s are equal on track when hot but takes longer to get there and seems to be close to overheating if you stay on the track more than 20 minutes. You really need to get some heat in them on the road to achieve the same grip as the Toyos produce pretty much from cold. Not much grip on the track when raining. No doubt they are better than CR 500 on track ( Gundersen used to be slower than me CR500 versus Toyo r888, we are the same on ZZR) ZZR`s are not my new favorite, but are OK on a dry track day. Will be back on Toyo r888 soon. And its the new A64 compound as recommended by CC. Cheers Carsten *wavey* Edited by - Supersprint1988 on 18 Aug 2014 21:42:55
  2. Well, I will let you know if flammability becomes an issue 😬 😬 Can't really see why it should.
  3. Bitumen plates are glued directly on to the GRP housing. It's quite heavy and reduces noisy vibrations in the GRP like this The 30mm foam is glued onto the bitumen. Theoretically 30mm is not even close to be enough to dampen the induction noise, but in the real world it makes a good job.
  4. I used a 30mm sound dampening foam and a 4mm bitumen plate. Perhaps not enough space for this in your type of airbox.
  5. I have now finished my noise dampening project. It includes a rear exhaust silencer and a home made airbox ( described in an earlier thread ) here A few pics of the exhaust system and a before/after power/torque plot here It's no surprice that the rear silencer reduces the noise a lot, the noise dampening effect of the airbox is really tremendous. The system is only intended for track day use, and to be honest, it doesn't suit the car very well to be this quiet. So on the road I will use a Pipercross filter and the bonnet/nose cone that suits the cars color scheme, and maybe just a 40cm long pipe instead of the rear silencer. It came as a pleasant surprice that this "quiet" setup only gives a 9 bhp power drop compared to the Pipercross px600 airfilter +Raceline side exit silencer setup. Hope this can be useful for someone *wavey* Carsten
  6. Hi Graham 91 views and only one "complaint". Maybe the cause is to be found in your end of the line
  7. Hi friends I have had a good time in my workshop making an airbox for my flared wing car. No beauty, but quite good at lowering the induction noise ( very much needed for the low noise track days here in Denmark ) No idea what it does to the engines performance though. Maybe it will go on the rollers later. A few photos for your inspiration here Cheers *wavey* Carsten
  8. Just spoke to my local Avon dealer who has the details on the new A64 compound. Avon descibes it as slightly harder than the A60 so your theories seems right. What camber angle do people use for the A60 compound ( on track ) ?
  9. Just spoken to CC The ones they sell now are for the front 15156M A64 and for the rear 15157M A60 compound.
  10. Comes in A60 and A24. Quoting Avon: A60 MEDIUM COMPOUND FOR SALOON CAR CIRCUIT SLICK APPLICATIONS. A24 MEDIUM COMPOUND FOR SINGLE SEATER, SPORTSCAR AND SIDECAR CIRCUIT SLICK APPLICATIONS. I believe the ones CC sell are A60 but I'm not sure. What compound do the good people of BC recommend for track day use. 11. Hi Dave You can't be serious. It would make anyone look like a moose 😔 Edited to say that my wife would love to buy me one 😬 Edited by - Supersprint1988 on 25 Dec 2013 22:32:12
  12. Thanks Dave What I'm looking for is a fellow blatchatter with a useless old PX600 who is willing to strip off the foam/mesh and send the pvc baseplate to me as a airmail small packet / or letter ( £7.85 )at a reasonable cost. I'm not looking for filter in good working condition.
  13. Actually it's just the pvc filter base ( incl the 3 screws ) I need for my air box project. Foam filter / metal mesh could be cut off, and base posted in an envelope I guess. Cheers *wavey* Carsten
  14. Perhaps camskills,- remember the club discount. It worries me that the Toyo R888 13" has been out of stock for very long now.
  15. Hi Ian Much appreciated, but according to CC the upgraded hub kit will not be available in the next few weeks. Hope you will enjoy Denmark
  16. This seems to happen without any warning, and I find that a bit scary to be honest. Hubs are 1988 but looked fine at the inspection I did at the beginning of the 2013 season. Hub *eek* Time to go for the upgraded front hub I guess Cheers *wavey* Carsten

  18. elie boone: seems to match the 3M kit quite well. Bricol: Did they stay clear and bright ? And what about the toothpaste,- flouride type or not ....... 😬
  19. I have tried Renovo already. It worked very well at the Caterham sidescreens, but didn't do much good at the headlight lenses. Maybe it could be useful for frequent light treatment after "the big job".
  20. These are white/yellow blurred plastic ones. Don't think dirt on the inside is the main problem but certainly worth doing as well.
  21. It's the Saab this time,- sorry. The headlight lenses are now so cloudy and blurred that I hardly can see the bulb and I believe the performance is severely impaired. I feel tempted to try one of these restoration kits. Anyone tried doing this,- and does the polished surface need a protective coat of a kind ? Edited by - Supersprint1988 on 18 Oct 2013 12:21:35
  22. Hi Simon Bonnet arrived. Thank You once again. Carsten
