Really enjoyed the day. It was my first seven club event in 16 years and it was great to be back.

Also appreciated people taking time to make Ben welcome in his first club event - I suspect it's pretty daunting at 16 to see the quality of drivers around him, but everyone was really welcoming.

Bugger! Waited too long to enter and it's now full. Looking like Curborough will be our first event now.

Need to be quicker next season.

Bugger. That was the one that triggered the question as it's £310 for me and my son. Think my wife has had enough of spending in the last few months already.

Oh well, in for a penny...

Looking forward to getting back to competing again this year, and it all feels close, now entries are starting to open.

To try and manage the budget between entry fees and car prep it would be great to get some advice on which events tend to be oversubscribed and should be entered early, and which I'm ok to hold off on.

My half hood was perfect on the track rollbar and sits ok but not quite as smoothly on the academy cage. It's a good enough fit that I wouldn't swap it.

Can I have first dibs on the mount please. Just need to double check I haven't already got one when I get home tomorrow night.

Thanks Aeroscreens. Too much of a numpty to make my own I suspect, so hopefully someone will have a spare. Caterham are showing as out of stock.

New sprinting season will be upon us before we know it. Has anybody get a spare timing strut sitting around they want to part with please?

Next purchase for me in prep for next year is going to be an aeroscreen.

On checking the regs I can see that the car needs a valid mot but there is no mention of it having to have the mirrors on to race. So can I just buy the aeroscreen or does it have to race as road legal with mirrors as well?

And that right there is one of the (many!) reasons while you'll always beat me David! I'll sling some tyres on and keep turning up, giving it a crack and see what happens. I think I focus too much on the sitting around, drinking coffee and chatting, and not enough on how to go quicker each time.

Maybe next year I'll tune into that side of it more, or perhaps Ben (my son and dual driver,) will do that bit.

I'll be swapping to ZZSs so that I'm aligned with the rest of the class 3 runners. There is a cost to change, but then I don't need 2 sets of wheels and I may be able to get a bit for my Toyos, so cost won't be too ridiculous.

Thanks for the reply. Are there any different compounds of ZZS or are they all the same? Just need to know if I need to check anything on Saturday when I go to look at the wheels and tyres.,,

Apologies for a question which I'm sure is a can of worms, but tried search and was still a bit confused.

Next year will be my first year back in class 3 after a long time out. I'm only looking to learn the ropes again not worry about every 10th in the car yet. 

I've currently got 888s on the car but a chance to buy some wheels with ZZSs on. Should I go with the Avon's for all races (as I gather they're good in the wet as well) or use Toyos in the dry and swap to ZZSs if it's wet.

is there much in it between the 2?

Got my car, getting a trailer this week and am getting everything ready for competing next year. Will be good to see you in the paddock again.

Buyer has pulled out due to him selling his car with the cage, so this is back up for sale now.

Just 2 months after buying this from Caterham I've now swapped to a cage, so selling my almost brand new track day rollbar. It's done about 250 miles and has barely a mark on it.

These are £360 from Caterham, so it's a chance to get one for 20% less.

Does anybody have a half hood for an S3 metric chassis with the latest FIA track day roll bar please?

I'll be in heading be up with my son to spectate. Looking forward to first long trip in our new 7, and getting ready to compete next year.

Sorry, me again with more newbie questions. 

Picked up the new (to me) car on Friday and have spent the weekend getting back into the groove.

Next step is to get helmets for me and my son ahead of the intro to sprinting day next month, and I've just seen the cost to get ones with the right certification - yikes! 

To be honest, I'd had in mind it would be in the £200 per helmet region but in fact it seems £400+ is the starting point. Any recommendations on the best options for sensible money would be gratefully received.

No problem Graham, that's understood. My last race at Curborough was 2006 so looking forward to getting reacquainted with it.

Thanks for the feedback and insight folks. PT have confirmed they'll put the correct airbox on it, and also swap seats to tillets.

If we can agree on price then this looks like the one, and I'll book myself onto the introduction to sprinting. I have sprinted before, but a reminder will be good and will be really useful for my son.

PT have said they'll sort the ECU update and spark plugs. What evidence will we need to present to confirm it's been done?
