Thanks all for your responses... I now need to work out how to go about 'opening up' the ECU for a re-map.... It's an older AAE unit circa 2000 ish, I believe supplied by Dunnell (with the engine). From reading around the web, these generally seem to have been 'locked' (by Dunnells). I'll have cam timing investigated too (thanks Oily).

Hi, thanks....is on throttle bodies, not carbs and a Pro-Line 3d ECU.

Thanks... I have a lot of paperwork for the engine, but not much for the cams specifically... It's a Dunnell 217bhp CV engine. Cams are described as ZRV, but struggling to find out any more about them. May have to contact Dunnell.

Hi All, picked up a new Caterham recently... As I thought might be the case the race focused 2l Zetec engine has a pretty aggressive cam and am now thinking ahead to potentially changing to more compliant cams for driveability/mostly road use... The car currently runs around 220hp, so am not too bothered about losing a few horses in exchange for better road manners.... Has anyone (more technical than me) done something similar? Any ideas how much hp would be lost? Any other thoughts/ tips, including what options might be out there, or even if just a re-map might help. Thanks all.

Hi all, I currently run a 135bhp K series Seven on 185/65/14 Uniroyal Rainsports.... However, this is soon to go and will be replaced by a 220bhp Zetec with LSD... This, slightly surprisingly, also runs on the same sized tyres, albeit Nankang NS2Rs... The car will be for dry fast road use only, but from reading various threads on here the car seems like it might be a bit under-rubbered at the rear. I'd like to keep running on 14s as ground clearance a bit of an issue (speed bumps in road). Supply of 14x7 and 14x8 wheels and suitable tyres seems limited. Any thoughts/advice please?
