  1. One last huge thanks to everyone who responded with ideas. We had an amazing trip (despite the weather!!) and fitted in as many of the suggestions as we could. Wales truly is beautiful and some incredible routes to blat along. We'll definitely be on the Taffia fish'n'chip run next year if at all possible. I'm going to add one more route here in case anyone stumbles across this thread in the future: the B4407 off the A5 south of Betws-y-Coed down to Pont yr Afon-Gam is an awesome winding narrow road across open moorland. Quick, flowing, challenging, with lots of blind crests and corners, so it's a case of blat-what-you-can-see, back off, repeat. National speed limit applies and that's plenty for being hugely fun and not utterly reckless. There are loose sheep around but they seemed generally content to stay on the verge and ignore the cars - but still another hazard to be aware of. Enjoy!
  2. Huge thanks to you all for the suggestions! The map book is now criss-crossed with all the routes and we can't wait to give them a try. We'll endeavour to keep track of what we do and reciprocate with anything new we find
  3. Great, thank you - all added to the list! And thanks for the warning - thankfully I'm taking my driving standards monitor with me. She'll be sat in the passenger seat...
  4. Thanks - can probably use most of that to get us from our southern base to the northern one!
  5. Thanks - great suggestion! Hadn't passed my IVA in time for this year's run, but maybe a practice run next week in preparation for next year...
  6. Hi My wife and I are heading to Wales for a week's blatting and walking next week .. 3 days based around the Brecon Beacons and 4 days in Snowdonia. Can anyone suggest any good routes? I'm sure there must be one or two... Thanks! Martin
  7. Pair of Duratec oil cooler mounting brackets and fastener pack for sale. Brand new and unused as supplied with kit but not needed. All proceeds will go to the club's PCR appeal.
  8. Unused from a recently completed kit build as replaced with the new LED versions. The set consists of two rear wing light clusters, fog lamp with rubber 'cheese', reverse lamp with rubber 'cheese', and registration plate light with screws and mounting plate. All proceeds will go to PCR.
  9. Unused from a recently completed kit build. Caterham part number 38C046A. I have (most of) the associated mounting bolt kit too. These are £33 from Caterham - sensible offer accepted and all proceeds will go to PCR.
  10. Unused from a recently completed kit build. Caterham part number 58110. Goodridge "Clutch Duratec RHD 2004 RD+RC". These are £22 from Caterham - sensible offer accepted and all proceeds will go to PCR.
  11. My 420R kit was supplied with 'old style' rear lights, but I've upgraded to the new LED ones straight away. Hence I have two rear wing clusters still sealed in their bags, number plate light in its box plus bracket, and reversing light + fog light with rubber pads which I've just unscrewed from the body. I'm happy to send photos if anyone wants clarity on exact versions. I can wrap and post, or you can collect from East Herts. All proceeds will go directly to the club's PCR fund so be generous with your offers!
  12. This is my first build, so I can't say whether it's new and improved or older and worse! Picture attached .. I've already installed it, so it's not a great view but hopefully it helps. It was supplied with 5/16 UNF bolds torqued to 25Nm which is different to the bolts and torque rating in the v2 IKEA manual. Keen to know what you think?
  13. I'm currently building a 420R and the UJ was the last piece missing too .. it suddenly arrived in the post last week from Caterham. Hopefully yours arrived too already, but if not my guess it will be on its way soon.
  14. Hi All I'm a brand new member based in East Herts and have just placed an order for a 420R kit. (I've a bit of experience of with Caterhams having raced R400s and joined a fabulous 7s club road trip around Europe roughly a decade ago). However, this is my first time on the other end of the spanner, so I'm looking forward to bugging you all when the build fails to go as planned... But before I even get that far: I like bucket seats, but my lovely wife has hips... The Oxted GT seats seem to be a good compromise, but it would be good to at least sit in one in situ before parting with the rather eye-watering amount of cash. Would anyone happen to have them installed in an S3 which i) they'd be happy to let me and the missus sit in (separately, obviously), and ii) are within a reasonable distance of Hertford/Stevenage? Many thanks and looking forward to getting to know the community. Martin
