  1. I have been using the JWM-PS-12 LiFePO4 battery on my Roadsport 150 SV for over 2 years now without any issues. Small, light, very good starting performance (1.6 Sigma). It comes with its own small dedicated charger. Even if the voltage has dropped to 'borderline' (below 13V) if the car has been inactive for several weeks, the JWM charger takes it back to fully charged in no more than 30 minutes.

If you are on an extended journey you can take the charger as it small and lightweight.

I have read of the Optimate dedicated Lithium chargers [plus there is now a CTEK dedicated Lithium charger/maintainer as well] , but I have not had need to buy and use one at all.

  2. Or, keep your phone in your pocket and use a Beeline motorcycle SatNav.

For minimal visual intrusion combined with the "at a glance' route directions.

This is the original Beeline which I have had for 2 years now, but I have just ordered the new 2024 Beeline (larger screen, extra features etc) ...

My steering wheel has the holes as per the apices of a Give Way sign, rather than a Warning road sign…. is that the case with yours too?

My Momo wheel is the same orientation as Phil G's, but opposite to yours. I am pretty certain that the normal standard from Caterham was the 'warning sign' bolt arrangement (not 'give way'), but either version works (in your case after reversing the U/J) ... 4. That Cambiare fuel pump is available on Ebay (model number VE523021) for £79.03 at the link below and appears to have free delivery AND a 20% extra discount using code RENEW20.

[I do not know if this part will fit - I am just responding to the OP's first post mentioning that part name and number. The compatibility chart on Ebay does show that this part number is compatible with a wide range of Ford cars]

David. The slot in the column in the picture is not for the lock. It is for the clamp to attach to the lower column. If you already have a removable wheel and no steering lock then removal of the column is straight forward. However if you do have a steering lock then your upper column will have a collar welded to it for the lock to engage. This collar will not pass through the upper bush so you need to remove the upper bush which can be a bit difficult and the bush could be damaged in the process. If you have to remove a column with a collar for the steering lock I found the best way was by using a ratchet strap fastened around the roll bar. Also as the bush could be damaged I would recommend purchasing a new bush before you start. Hope this helps.

Thank you Paul - good advice.

Maybe the best solution for me is to get the Optimill zero backlash quick release hub as sold by Sevens & Classics. Those parts are made for Land Rovers, but so are a number of other Caterham/Lotus Seven parts over the years.

The Optimill kit uses the existing steering column without removing it, and does not impact teh steering lock at all.

  6. Thank you to all the responders so far.

The liberal lubrication with silicone is a good tip, plus making sure the lockable steering is definitely unlocked - i guess that is what the long machined slot in the new column is for - presumably for the lock mechanism to engage with. My column nylon bushes appear to be in good condition, so I won't need to replace them I hope (but I know Redline Components should have them anyway). Has anyone changed the nylon column bushes - I saw somewhere that this was a tricky/awkward job??

My car is an SV but I recall also seeing that the S3 and SV column length should be the same - someone in an earlier thread said it was 420 mm long.

  7. I have been researching the Go-Race Caterham Column with Go-Race Quick Release feature to eliminate the small movement that the standard LifeLine quick release exhibits. There is a decent Caterham Club discount which adds to its attraction. Changing over to the Go-Race Caterham Upper Column should be straight forward, but who has done this already, what issues did you face, and what tips do you have to make it easier?

Loosening the original column at the column joint should be a few minutes work, but how tricky is getting the new column into the top bearing, and were there any problems with the locking steering column feature?

[I have looked at previous threads here which have very good comments about the Go-Race kit; none of the earlier threads mentioned any fitting issues so that is why I am asking now - are there any issues?]

    All advice very welcome!

  8. Have you asked Chris Mintoft at Redline if he stocks either those Banner parts or something very similar?

Whatever battery we use in a Caterham has battery terminals relatively close to the aluminium bonnet, so covering terminals is a wise move.

All of the cheap ones you see on Ebay never fit well.

Well that batch didn't last long. All sold out again. I have ordered one more batch which will probably be the last as most that want them i would think have them now. Should be here in the next month

These Eccles mount kits are so good that we'll all need to buy a second set for our next Caterham (whenever that is). Don't stop producing these for a while yet ...

that’s a very clever adaption of a windscreen to make it an aero(ish) kind of screen!
Would love to know how they managed to cut the glass with a smooth curve and make it safe

I think there would be a definite interest in a batch of that type of short screen - low volume but worth considering.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but what are those nuts on the base of the Spa mirrors? Mine tightened up from behind the base and are always sagging down.

They are sold by DPR and make sure that you can adjust the SPA mirror without having to get behind the SPA mirror bracket - well worth using! See the post before this one by rs2ph.
