  1. I've just done this over the weekend. I've also had to order a new socket to tighten it. I also bought a magnetic plug for the sump. I got mine from merlin motorsports.

  2. Thank you everyone for your replies they have been really helpful and one bought.

I wanted a spare to put in my boot as I'm about to start a big road trip. Keep an eye out on my Instagram or Facebook page to see where.

I've had the lambda sensor break before and it was not fun so a spare in the boot is a good idea for a long trip I think.

Thanks again for all your help.

  3. Hi

I have looked but is there a list somewhere of part numbers?

What I'm specifically after is a lambda sensor for a 2012 sigma fixed cam (I can't read the number on mine). Also a part number for a thermostat and thermostat housing if anyone knows what it is?

Sorry if I've missed a list of part numbers somewhere.

    Thanks

  4. Hi Andy

Thanks for replying. After posting this I've been talked into going to Curborough instead. It's a shame two Caterham things are on the same day. I'll definitely be coming to watch some of the speed championship soon though.

    Thanks

    James

  5. I've not tried to drain the gearbox oil yet as I've not had time.

I will make a quick video on where to find the drain plug if I can. I think lighting and space might be a bit of an issue, but I'll give it a go. I'm sure it would help others in the future if I can.

    Thanks

    James

  6. Sorry I've been in the garage all day doing jobs. Thank you for all of your comments. It sounds like a shortened Allen key is the best then.

    #12 I like that idea.

I dont know if its best to just top up the oil (if that's needed) or to try to suck all the oil out.

    Thanks

    James

  7. Hi

I would like to buy a carbon engine cover for a sigma fixed cam engine, or a good plastic one. My plastic one has gone brittle.

I'm not a fan of the long thin carbon covers that go down the middle.

    Thanks

    James

  8. Hi Stu

It's two cables if you want to talk to a passenger and use a radio at the same time. For me personally it's normally one or the other. The cable for the radio comes with the headset (you can pay extra for a detachable cable).

I don't know about the intercom you said. What I've tried is the sony xm3 which didn't work well in the car at all and the JAL headsets. When I was doing my research the other options I found were wired into the car which I didn't want. There are other options that I've not tried. I was just trying to be helpful as the JAL headsets do all what the original poster wanted I thought.

    Thanks

    James

  9. I first bought some Sony xm3's which were great for music but I didn't feel like they were protecting my hearing.

I use the Just Add Lightness Bluetooth headset which I've made a video on

I know some people make their own headsets and there are other options available, but I use the Just Add Lightness ones.

  10. I was spectating and it was great watching you all sprint up the hill.

I've made a video of bits I recorded on the day which might interest you.

    Here is the link:

I was also at Curborough and made a video for that. I didn't move around enough that day so didn't get enough different shots. I'm new to making/editing videos and learning all the time.

Here is the link to my Curborough video:

If you would like to subscribe that would be great :-)

  11. I wouldn't drill them I would use eccles mounts. There is a post on blat chat about aluminium mounts. So much better than the standard mirrors and you don't need to drill the holes then. The standard mirrors are pants.

  12. Hi Alan

I had the eccles mounts 3d printed and they are good, but these are sooo much better. The quality is brilliant and they don't wobble as much because they are very strong. I guarantee that you will be very happy with the quality of these. They come with all the fixings you need and its nice to have all of the hinges matching. Having Spa convex mirrors instead of the standard mirrors is one of the best things I've changed on my car, as you can see a lot more. The more you can see the safer you are right? Any questions anyone has I'm happy to answer. There should also be a picture of mine below.
