  1. Happy New Year!

Does anyone know the length of the bolts used to fix RBTBs to the head?

Or do they use studs, clearance to the roller barrels seems very tight to get a bolt through the hole that's long enough to secure it properly?

  2. I have a 2016 420R, has never stalled, idles fine when cold.  I bought second-hand, so maybe its a new engine thing and just needs a few miles on it?

  3. Hi All

My first year of trackday driving my 2016 420R SV and I'm wondering about gear selection.

I seem to spend most of the time between 4k and 6k revs.  Is that too low, I'm not chasing /100ths just curious if I'm generally using the wrong gears!

The engine noise doesn't really encourage higher revs, at 6k it's already v loud and I find I change up due to mechanical sympathy but maybe I need some ear plugs?

Per google, torque curve is pretty flat and (hence) power curve fairly straight, so not sure I would be going any quicker.  Have another trackday next Monday (Brands) so will give it a go at higher revs but good to hear your own experiences.

    Thanks

  4. That R Tech looks great, do you weld aluminum often? The DC only machines are quite a bit cheaper but it is definitely tempting and I'm sure this would be nicer to weld steel with too.

  5. Main thinking behind TIG vs MIG was that I dont want lots of sparks flying around all over me, my car, rest of the garage etc!

Someone told me that TIG was much cleaner, albeit more difficult.

  6. Thanks both, the knee panel and the interior panel were stuck together by the burring from the self tapping screws (I think).

On one side I used a claw hammer! to lever apart and on the other side I pulled out the rubber trim between the two which unstuck the two panels, second method I would say is better.

Once unstuck the panels wiggled out quite easily.
