  1. As it says above I have for sale an SBFS vinyl tonneau with ears for standard headrests. No cutouts and normal centre zip. Comes with bag. Only used a few times. It will be in Oxford in a few weeks. £100 ono. Dave B

    ? HGF

Many thanks Oily. The gasket I have is the green, sort of skeletal one, is this OK? Dave B

    ? HGF

Seem to have a coolant leak and hope it is not head gasket. Car is K 1600 with Jenveys on manifold. When engine is up to temp there is a distinct drip from the region of cylinder 4. It appears to be coming from the manifold to head joint. Question is :- Is there a coolant passage in the inlet manifold in this area. If this is the case luckily I have a spare inlet gasket. Does the gasket need any goo on it. If it is a HGF then it will have to wait a while. TIA Dave B
  4. Bought them from Carbon Mods, quality is excellent. Dave B
  5. Just had my luverly carbon pods arrived. Any suggestions as to the best way to fix the indicators, self tappers as currently used, or small bolts. Also the safest way to drill the holes. TIA Dave B
  6. I used bread to stuff into the spigot and then used a drift and it came out very easily. Dave B
  7. Thanks guys for your comments. Lambda is now wired under side skin and seems to not be a problem. Mankee you are correct I must leave the cat on as the insurance companies here will declare your car illegal if it is not as it was for ITV ( and you make a claim of course ). The good news is I have found two people over here who are familiar with Emerald and have rolling roads, result. Just need to get the engine rebuilt to 1800 and get it mapped. Dave B
  8. Actually Mankee, I have googled some pics of sensor positions and under the side skin doesn't look too bad. Certainly better than drilling a hole through and no dismantling of plug. Result. Thanks for the suggestion. Dave B
  9. Could take the wire through the exhaust hole in side skin but a) it would look naff, b) would be toooo close to exhaust. Under side skin would leave the wire susseptible to stones etc. No need to insulate wire if I can get it through side skin as I will cable tie in engine bay to passenger footwell.
  10. On the other end is the lambda sensor. Wire is certainly long enough. I have tried prising the wires out with a jewellers screwdriver but no joy. Am thinking trying to get the grommet over the sensor as that is marginally smaller that the connector. Judicious use of rubber lube might just do the trick. Dave B
  11. Thanks Jonathan, bit complicated but got there. I have disconnected a small clip which appeared to be securing the wires but the wires still refuse to come out.
  12. Yes Jonathan, there is a connector with 5 wires and it is this that I need to remove the wires from. Hopefully pic attached. No cant figure out how to attach photo!!!! Dave B
  13. I am trying to relocate my lambda sensor from 4 primary to the cat where the 4:1 is. Dont want to drill a bl**dy great hole in side panel to get the plug through but I cant get the wires out of the plug*mad* Any ideas please. Dave B
  14. Mark I have an old Emerald M3DK. Reason for the wide band lambda is I have troubles getting the emissions OK for Spanish test. I have a gauge which tells me the O2 reading.
  15. Car is S3 K series with 4:1 exhaust with seperate cat ( the 4:1 collector is the cat) I have read in various articles that the current position of my lambda sensor ( primary 4) is probably not good. I have therefore bought a new boss and bung to be fitted into the front of the cat. A few questions 1) how careful do I need to be not to get swarf in the cat matrix? 2) The boss is a stepped item, do I get it welded oi it pokes through the wall of the cat or sit on top? Thanks in advance. Dave B
  16. PCH. The first link does not work but "click here" does work. Ah well just keep on going. Dave B
  17. Very much a computer illiterate but I cannot get any links in peoples posts to work. Is there something I need to activate to enable this please. Dave B
  18. Yes Nigel, it was your thread that prompted my question. Don't really want to start hacking the cat unless it is a viable solution. Cheers Dave B
  19. Having read in other threads that a lambda sensor is better placed after the collector, I have a question. My lambda is currently in 4th primary. Being in Spain I must have the cat on at all times. So I don't have a cat bypass pipe, wondered if it is feasible to mount a boss into the conical end of the cat? Dave B
  20. Having a few probs getting the rods from Max Speeding UK. They quoted me a postage price but now say as I am in Canaries it will cost extra £23 on top of the £25 I have paid. I have asked for a refund but they don't seem to want to respond. Have to look at buying them from somewhere else. Mankee. Do you want to sell yours ? Dave B
  21. Thanks for responses. Have now ordered the rods from Max Speeding. Dave B
  22. Don't suppose anyone has a set of these surplus to requirements!!! Looking to convert my 1600 to 1800. Failing POBC can anyone recommend a good supplier who would be willing to post to Gran Canaria? Dave B

    Engine rebuild

Anyone have any experience of VGK Racing in Spain please. Need to have my engine refreshed and shipping to mainland Spain would be a lot better than to UK. Looking at maybe their 1900cc option. Dave B
  24. Unfortunately needed for mot but, thanks Steve for the info. I will get my tame welder to have a look. Not sure if he does brazing but hopefully mig or tig will do the job.
  25. Weird one this. Went out for a great blat in the mountains and pulled up at restaurant for lunch. Pulled handbrake on and lever came up quite far and ratchet would not hold. Ah ha cable snapped I thought. Whipped off the tunnel cover this morning and the welds holding handbrake bracket to chassis have failed. What a bummer. I think I will need to remove the transmission tunnel side panels to be able to weld brackets back to chassis. Anyone else had this problem? Dave B
