  1. Hi, I was told to remove OBD port and just let it hang down but I would secure it. The bracket is attached to the rear of the dashboard. Martin.
  2. Hi, I've decided to fit switch within the "A" section of the windscreen mount. Downloaded template and guide from club guide section (many thanks). I have drilled holes and ordered an Autolec FIA cut out switch from Caterham. I noticed the OBD bracket is very close to where switch will be. Asked Caterham how to get round this and was told to remove the bracket by undoing 2 screws. I can't find these screws. Any suggestions please. My car is a 2018-19 420R. Thanks in advance, Martin.
  3. Thanks all for your help and many thanks Jonathan for the guides. Martin.
  4. JV, thanks for your input I am now reconsidering placing the switch on the drivers side Stanton. I have sat in my drivers seat and there's no possible way I can reach the switch if located on the passengers side. That's with or without the harness on. Martin.
  5. Sorry, the link doesn't appear to work.
  6. This is the one I bought. https://www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/lma-fia-battery-master-cut-out-switch-lma788/ Martin.
  7. Many thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. Martin.
  8. Thank you for your replies. John, the main reason for fitting the switch is to reduce the parasitic drain on the battery (previous one lasted under 18 months) the added security is a bonus. I do want to meet up with fellow club members and have a go at the odd hill climb and track day though. Is it a requirement to have an accessible cut off switch fitted? Please excuse my ignorance as this is all new to me. Martin.
  9. I had an issue with the radiator cooling fan not cutting in (new kit). The problem was located to a loose female spade connection on the relay housing block (green wire).
  10. Good afternoon, I'm fitting a battery cut off switch to my 2018-19 420R. I intend to place it on the engine bulkhead, passenger side. I have made a template. Got the battery side pretty much sorted but I want to use the 4 smaller spade connections to prevent damage if the switch is broke whilst engine is running. I have the correct resistor. Is there a 420 guide/wiring diagram that I can use? Specifically, I'm looking for the correct take off from the ignition switch. Martin.
  11. Mine have an E mark and I'm outta here.
  12. For comparison, main and dipped (I use dipped as running lights). Bought from Just Add Lightness. I'm very happy with them and would recommend these.
  13. Apologies James, I did mean bellhousing guard (it's been a very long day!). Thanks for your help. Martin.
  14. Many thanks, my wife just measured the clearance with me onboard and got 75-77mm. (I've made a series of GO - NO GO gauges from blocks of wood). I set it to 70mm last year with a rake of 10mm. Clearance increased by 5-7mm and rake has reduced to 5mm both sides.
  15. Hello, can somebody let me know the clearance from sump/sump protector to ground on a 420R fitted with a dry sump. I intend to get it set up more accurately later. Thanks in advance Martin.
  16. Had problems with car including erratic idle and cutting out/stalling when pulling away from standstill (I seem to have improved this by increasing idle speed to just over 1,000rpm) and speedometer and tachometer dropping off simultaneously (pretty sure this was due to condensation in gauges but I fitted earthing upgrade and after drying out appears to be working). My latest problem was a cooling fan failure which I tracked down to a poorly assembled fuse/relay holder. I'm certainly not bothered about keeping it Caterham. The car has covered just over 450 miles and my wife refuses to get in it (an unforeseen bonus). Not bothered about track days but I'd like to do the odd hill climb.
  17. Looks great. Kit delivered about a year ago so still got a year to run. I will definitely go for your set up. You've got the main reason behind getting this done. Idle and a smooth delivery although the extra HP and torque is most welcome. Your advice and photo is much appreciated.
  18. Thanks, unfortunately the soundtrack will be lost on me (hard of hearing and tinnitus Grrrrrr!) but I'll be pleased with improved ii).
  19. Many thanks JV for your full and concise reply. My major concerns are idle and acceleration. Regarding item iv) I am confident I can carry out the work myself but wondered if CC would supply the parts. I have searched through CCs online parts and cannot find a RB kit for a 420R. Once again thankyou Martin.
  20. Hello All, I am thinking of fitting a roller barrel upgrade to my car. The car is a 2018 420R SV model. I understand it'll give an extra 10 BHP but can somebody help with the following queries? i) to keep within the terms of the warranty, I assume, I have to buy the upgrade from Caterham, ii) will it improve idle speed and acceleration from stop, iii) being a SV, will it fit within the existing engine bay without altering bonnet and iv) can I fit the upgrade myself (Caterham reprogramming the ECU). Many thanks Martin.
