  1. Hello, thanks for the pm, I've now found the sensor is bad, one of the wires was disconnected internally right at the sensor head, so it's not repairable. my next question is, a direct replacement sensor is out of stock, but Burton sell a three wire version. Can I use this to replace my 2 wire sensor. I have google researched and it's not clear at all. any help gratefully received:-) pete
  2. Can anyone enlighten me as to how to test a speed sensor (it's the one that "plugs" into the gearbox) where the old fashioned cable version would have gone. im trying to find out if it's the sensor or wiring, before I blow £130 on a new sensor by the way, it did work, but I saw it was loose, while fixing a reverse light switch after "Fixing "it, it now doesn't work at all Pete
  3. Hi, I have a 5 speed T9 heavy duty box with a long first gear. The gearbox was purchased in 2010 from BGH and then rebuilt in 2017again by BGH (about 2,5000) miles ago with receipts The box was recently removed from my duratec car as I had a six speed to put in. The box is in perfect working condition and was professionally removed form the car (not by me!!) Collection only from HP27 in bucks. £750 Pete
  4. I have a duratec on TB, Carbon airbox and a Raceco. i pass the static at Bedford easily, but i have to hold the revs (a little) past the sensors. i think the “larger” raceco and a little sound deadening in the carbon airbox may just tip me under the drive by. when you go, start a 5,000rpm and build revs gently until you get a sound warning board and then drop back, it’s also a great way to learn the circuit if you’ve not been before. pete
  5. Make sure you are actually turning it the right way.. sounds very silly, but I’ve done it!! trying it the “other” way can sometimes crack it loose if there is some corrosion in the threads
  6. Does anyone know which is the correct rear pad from the Caterham store to “match” the Front old AP callipers with Mintex 1144 there are two pad types 30B032A & 30B013A help!!!
  7. Sounds normal(ish) for a X/flow with a bit of wear/ use either ignore it or time for a rebuild, might be worth taking the head off and converting to unleaded and changing the valve stem seals. if that doesn’t work you still have a good head and know it’s the bottom end that needs work
  8. An update, I visited a wet, but quiet Bedford Autodrome today, with a freshly packed silencer ( Acousti-fill) and the Caterham track day airbox. Bedford measured everyone at 4,500 rpm, I was only 93.5dB so no problem there. I then did a dozen laps building up revs/ speed and eventually I did get one noise warning, which they give you if you are within a couple of dB of the drivebys After the warning I kept below 6,000rpm only by the noise meters and there was no problems. For the last few laps, before I was going home, I did my best to get black flagged for noise, to see if it would happen, it didn’t... I think a little more noise reduction work to do, but then i should be safe on any track. Also worth noting I had the car re-mapped to suit the airbox over the foam pipercross it came with, I also had to use 30mm shorter trumpets, we ran the car with/ without the airbox and the power was down by 15BHP ish using the airbox, but the noise difference on the rollers was huge!!
  9. I’ve done lots of Javelin days, and they’re my favourite organiser, professional, safe and good value. The days are always best towards the finish, when the numbers have dwindled, but I don’t think they overbook.
  10. All fixed if anyone else has the same issue, make sure you use the very latest software download from Emerald, once i I had that it worked like a dream
  11. I’m trying to read the map in my M3DK, I have the emerald cable (continuity ok) and the emerald recommended usb to serial adapter, with updated drivers installed i could not get any connection with the new software, but on downloading the older version I now can now get a connection, but it drops out every couple of seconds, so moving in the right direction!! Any ideas what my next step should be? pete
  12. I would bet on it being the Weber’s, as it’s running cleanly at higher rpm, loads of carb cleaner and a run with new good fuel and all will be well. Those carbs don’t like sitting unused!!!
  13. Of course, I’ll report back any success or failure!
  14. Thanks Delc, is yours a similar spec to mine, (240 BHP)? can you lift past the drivebys? I know where they are....
  15. Hello all, I am new to 7 ownership and new to the club, my first ever post is a question :-) my new (to me) car is a 2002 Seven with a Raceco Duratec on 48mm Throttle Bodies and a Raceco silencer. I have a carbon airbox on order and I’m going to re-pack the silencer. I’ve done a lot of track days over the years at Bedford and I’d like to take the 7 now. How likely am I to get through the static and driveby limits? Has anyone done it with a similar spec car? thanks Pete
